  1. It could be they are putting the lawful killing of deer, as coverall for shooting injured deer, (even though they don't need to, in my mind as that is already covered)On the other hand it could be genuine mistake. Only one way of finding out though, and that is for one of you to ask them the question and let us all know.
  2. Thanks Tyla. Excuse my ignorance but what is the bicarbonate and diesel method?
  3. Montane extreme smock is one and Arktis do their own version as well. The montane is great and a lot of the lads are using it.
  4. Have you another calibre on your ticket that is unused and suitable for deer?
  5. Multiple methods but cage trap preferred, rf in right circs.
  6. Yea I have heard of brains being used but not sure if an old wives tale or whether it really is used.
  7. I have 3 that i have had since about 1996. They never seem to wear out, they can be vented by two way zips on the side and pockets, but they must be worn next to the skin for them to work properly. For some reason you can wear them for weeks, and they never seem to smell or even need washing. All the mountain rescue lads wear them, but there are cheaper alternatives that do the job the same, and are basically constructed the same. The genuine buffalos are expensive but well worth the money.
  8. Hi bud. Do you know exactly how he did it? I have tried alsorts with both rabbit hare and deer skins, using, saltpetre, borax, tbags, oak bark, etc, and i can never get them completly soft at the end of the process. I have heard the red indians used to chew the hides I just used salt nd scraped it off with any skin .. no expert but I moved it every day for a weeks and re salted it ,, Did they dry quite soft and supple though Micckey?
  9. Lol imagine that... Or even if someone had a user name that suggested they were involved in an illegal activity..

  11. by the letter of the law that is true. However, under animal welfare law, which they can and will apply as needed, a 410 would be classed as unsuitable weapon and you could be done for causeing undue suffering to a creature. 12 bore and minimum of 32g of No.5. Walked up hare are invariably running away, so you need to shoot/carry a gun and load that would be up to the task if need be. Although I'm not a shooting man ,,, and I stand to be corrected,,, but I wouldnt have thought there was a law saying you can't shoot a hare with a 410,,,, of course it's not the prefred weapon,,,but surly no law

  13. Fox pelts did hold value some years back. In the late 70's we were getting £25 to £30 for a good condition winter pelt, but it didn't mean we killed them for money, even though it was a real big supplement to a young keepers wage.Having said that, there wasn't the same amount of sport shooters out there with moderated HV rifles. It does seem a real shame to waste fox pelts when they are such quality at this time.
  14. No, shouldn't do. Get the managers name and number and phone him/her. Just out of interest, what police force?
  15. About 3 years ago I was catching that many from one spot I had, that I was releasing them in two other spots at the landowners request. Years ago large bags of rabbits were shot in one of the spots and he wanted to see if the numbers could be built up again. The other spot only the occasional rabbit was seen during daytime and only a few more at night. Now, the one spot has quite a lot of rabbits but we are still maintaining a self imposed ban on taking any large numbers of them, and will only take the occasional one for a trap or for the table. The other spot where there weren't so many to sta
  16. Your feo will make the decision under normal circs. The manager just ratifies it. He/she might be on holiday/on a course/etc
  17. As I explained, for sport. Years ago whole days of walked up rabbit shooting used to take place on the estate. You have to remember that in hill country, rabbits aren't always the pest that they are in arable and forestry areas.
  18. It cost me £50 and a photo of my penis.
  19. All the best. Ianb will get inundated now with people wanting to change their name
