  1. Lucky escape for the kids there. Maybe that is some of the reasons the schools do it.
  2. Q: Why does it take longer to build a blonde snowman than a regular one? A: You have to hollow out the head
  3. I thought the tennant had the right to appoint one named person to control vermin, or at least that's the impression I have got from the many threads on the subject that have been on here over the years.. They might have Malt, it might be on this estate though that they can't. You wouldn't believe some of the problems the remnants go through just to shoot a few rabbits themselves. I found out by way of a bollocking one day as I had been given permission by the tenant to ferret, but hadnt got the permission from the keeper. Luckily it all ended ok but now on those particular farms I can only

  6. You could do with checking as around me a lot of the tenants can carry out critical vermin control themselves, but cannot transfer that right to somebody else. It may be because the land is all part of grouse and pheasant shoot and is keepered. The keeper then becomes the agent. If one of the farms I shoot on need crop protection, they have to phone the keeper first, to see if he can do it, but usually he then allows permission because he has better things to be getting on with. Somewhere the tenant should have it in writing but otherwise they can check with landowner. It may be diffe
  7. Kids off school, great for them but every other person has to go to work, teachers must be different. Still, a good opportunity to get out with the rifle and whack a few crows that are thieving the sheep nuts as soon as they get put out.
  8. Being one of the dreaded amateur catchers running only 20-30 traps at a time I use either a trowel and/or a small glock spade. I expect that this wouldn't work that well large scale but its ok for what I need. It would be interesting to see some pics of some of the tools people are talking about.
  9. I feckin still laugh every time you stick up that "lmgtfy" It's a polite way of saying "lazy bast*rd"
  10. I am not well up on the law, but does anybody know of many or any laws that have been overturned. That might be your answer! Any laws that have been overturned, if any, I am guessing would have had the popular vote!
  11. that will make some interesting footage Stubby Stick it up when its done.
  12. No but looking at getting a couple from a freind to try out, as I dont want to splash out that much money on a buy if they are no good. I see them more as just another string to the bow, and not sure if there are any advantages over the cage or the snare. I did consider using it in the urban garden, but then you have the issue of dispatch, as against taking the cage and fox, somewhere else to dispatch. I can potentially see their use in areas where cage traps keep getting set off by nosey do-gooders!! or when you have a cage aware fox, possibly.
  13. Should have both of those easy enough, what are you using? Cage traps?
  14. try and dig out some of the old documentation from a few years ago, but from memery I am sure a .410 was acceptable as from 10cm the shot acts as a solid slug, but disperses quickly causing the crushing of the brain. What I cant remember though, and I suspect that it was really only for emergency slaughter. I agree that a larger calibre would do the job better.
  15. Tom Tom sat nav and a garmin GPS.
  16. Your choice! If you want to watch them leave them, if you've had enough of them, whack them.
  17. So what about at this time of year Geoff when it is dark at 5. The landowners may not see them!! What about like on one of my permissions where the landowner owns 5000 acres which goes all around a headland and up several remote valleys!! The landowner can't be there all the time!!! A bit of inexperience, naivity or only apply the situation to your own circs I think!!

  19. Feckin media is what is wrong, building everyone up into a frenzy over snow reports that are just flashes in the pan. Look at the freezes that the USA and Russia get, and life carries on!! If it wasn't for the publicity about the forecasted weather, people would just get on with it. All feckin week I have just heard people and kids angling for a potential day off because of the snow. No wonder this country is fecked!!
  20. Nearly as lucky as when George Bush had a grenade thrown at him in Georgia in 2005, but it failed to explode because the hanky it was wrapped in, prevented the fly off lever, flying off Kept pretty quiet that one!
  21. No rabbits on the moor, just lower down on estate land but only a few.
  22. I know who took the 4th one
