Could do mate, just give it a try, all sorts can be caught off the pier.. Fish with Sandeel or mackerel after dark for doggies and Huss.. Just get out and give it a go.. Speak to the bloke in the shop mate, he'll point you in the right direction..

You can mate, it's luck of the draw.. You will lose a bit if gear but if you find the sandy patches you've a chance of fish.. If you bottom fish rocky areas normally it's the same, rotten bottoms, I'd fish a pennel pulley rig with crab as bait... Once you've got the rig off the bottom keep reeling with the rod held high... The pulley rig helps to hook fish and the pulls the lead off the bottom when you're playing a fish.. Dead easy to tie, if not you can buy ready mades.. After dark there's some big Huss caught along there, doggies.. And conger.. My old man ( doesn't fish a lot) came one ni

Ilfracombe pier can produce, Water mouth just around the corner is pretty good off the rocks, pollack, mackerel chance if bass.. Woolacoombe off the beach at night, or the rocks on the right hand side as you look out to sea.. Chance of rays and bass.. Westward ho! On the rocks can be good ( not fished here but heard good reports).. Peeler crabs the bait for bass mate, spin with jellies, Sandeel imatations or a frozen eel bound on the hook with elastic ( the eel spun slowly over the rocks can work well for pollack). I hope your perserverance pays off mate.... I'm gonna get my first couple of hours on the tidal Sunday morning... It's manic at the minute so not had much time.. Start doing a few evening in the next few weeks, fins finished school for holidays now so he can come with me until late now...

Haha Chris, that reminds me if an incident when I was a kid.. I was around 10 or so and I was taken fishing or hunting every weekend by Dave who was like a 2nd dad to me.. Sounds like they feed for a short period each day mate, is the water fished heavily? You maybe missing that time, The bream on a stretch of river near here will not feed until early hours 1am until about 6am, I fished there all day from early until dusk and struggled fir bits, fish over night and you can bag up on big slabs.. Not much experience on barbel but the same could apply? Is the Trent not worth a shot, seems like there's good reports In The angling press but I don't know the stretches..

I didn't think there was that much hype around England this year tbh... And never were they touted to win it... I expected them to get out of the group, but there's been a lot of surprises this World Cup .. Look at Costa Rica, a missed penalty away from the semis, who would've called that? Spain out at the group stages? But the teams left in aren't a shock are they... Brazil, Agentina, holland and Germany... It sorts the wheat from the chaff in the end and these are some top sides.. Been a great World Cup IMO.. I've enjoyed all the games I've watched..

My girls 16 this year, but I hope the values and morals with instilled in her will prevent her ever getting involved in shit like this.. But you can only do your best and as I keep telling her she's nearly an adult now, her decisions are her own me and her mum won't be there for ever... I'd hang my head in shame though if that was my girl...
