  1. After Fridays experience with the tope on the kayak, this morin was take 2.. We decided to drift the same reef, and I really wanted to catch a bass.. For the first couple of drifts we just couldn't keep out of the rough stuff, losing a few lures, we shortened ther drift as it seemed the first 100 yards or so was too rough.. This proved successful as the next drift my rod doubled over and a decent fish was on, it took line and battled well, I knew it wasn't a pollack this time and as it broke surface our quest for a Guernsey bass off the yak was complete. A cracking morning and nice bass a
  2. The match will be fished between 9am - 3pm with the draw for pegs at 8am ( or there abouts, depending on hangovers etc lol) You draw you peg out of a bag, so it's all done fairly. Only 1 rod can be fished at a time ( you can set up as many as you want though). The rest of the rules will be set by the fishery, barbless hooks etc.
  3. Cheers Bry, I'm sure he would of the spawny git lol.. Just didn't expect it on the gear we were fishing mate, I'm tempted to catch a few fresh mackerel and fsh for them. We were only 200 yards or so off the shore, you can reach a headland just along a bit, so a big bait off the shore on a rising tide could see a decent fish caught, problem is the rocks, I fished off the shore the other night and couldn't find a sandy patch!! Back on the yaks on Monday morning then a local lads fishing boat Tuesday with live eels for the bass, possible trip off of Sark too with a lad who took us kayaking,
  4. Cheers all-terrain No Clive I'm in Guernsey, we were kayaking around Sark on Wednesday, I had the kids on with me and the missus and eldest girl on another kayak.. We had done a couple of hours in and out if caves and were on our way back, when a lid of dolphins broke surface, they were around for about 10 mins.. The kids were going mad they absolutely loved it!!
  5. Cheers lads. Dave: It definitely got the heart racing lol.. Johns voice was pretty high pitched when he screamed SHARK.. Lol Ant: I'm gonna have a good go at getting reconnected to it, bloody thing beat me up today lol.. Clive: Our faces were shock, with a mixture of shit yourself lol.. I clung hold and john paddled lol..
  6. The thing is mate, I'm fishing light weight spinning gear for bass, I've never fished for tope bit I know a bit about them, and never expected to hook one on a 5" Sandeel lure... It was some sight up beside the kayak, made you feel a bit small tbh lol..
  7. So last night over a bottle of wine with my wife's cousin I suggested an early morning kayak trip to see if we could catch that elusive bass.!! This morning was beautiful in Saints Harbour, Gurnsey, as we paddled around the headland to drift over a reef, it's only 200 yards or so off the shore but it's in fairly deep water, live eels are best ( as we found on last summers trip) but we only had artificials so they'd have to do. First drift a nice pollack around 4lb, the same in the next couple of drifts. I lost a decent fish,... Then all he'll broke lose!!! John hooked a fish that screamed o
  8. Yes walshie, my name's Clive. My mates name is Rob.B. that's 2 of us for fishing and camping, all bein well, we'll land late Friday, fish the Wye Saturday with newkid and a few others if it's still on the cards an all, might even slip in a few sly babycham's along the way an all ......... I'm still on for the Wye Clive, I'll give you a buzz when I'm back off hols.
  9. The sites lost a few good lads.. A few you enjoyed a yap with, I think, Gnash.. Can't see the problem with the other site, there are other hunting sites and social sites any way, what does it matter if the lads who don't come on here want to have a site to talk on?? Any how everyone on here seems a lot happier now, and the other sites decent so alls well that ends well..
  10. I'll be in Guernsey for 2 weeks on Friday, I'll let you know..!! A couple of trips arranged on a local lads boat fishing for bass and kayaking most days.. Plus trips to sark and herm, I'll definatly have a rod stowed away lol.. Fished Alderney quite a few years back, some cracking sport on turbot on the banks, my brother had the biggest which was 16lb, that's a beast of a flat fish, best I had was around 8lb.. Only a few small bass though.. I'm not jealous at all Kev. Have a good un. Thanks Bry, I can't wait tbh.. Works been flat out I'm ready for a break now.. I'll be in touch when

  13. Down this way mike baker ( rose-Anne) out of Exmouth does well on the bass. This is wreck fishing though, so deep water and usually live eels or artificials. I'm setting a trip up with Cushtymush later in the summer, I could see what space is available if a few other lads wanted on. There's no guarantees, but he works hard to put you over fish.
  14. Last minute . com is the way to get a cheap hotel mate. The museums are free, get there earlier they get busy. Be careful what queue you buy your ticket from for the London Eye, theres a fast track ticket but it cost 15-20 quid more, and the queue moves quick any way... scamming b*****ds.. There's enough to see and do without spending a fortune, just getting round and seeing the sights is a day out!! Have a good un mate, I love it for a weekend - few days.... it's a great place IMO..... then you can appreciate the quiet even more when you get home lol
  15. PM Twobob.... I don't think he's a million miles away from you..
  16. Well done Arch... The best things come to those who wait lol...
  17. No stig this year to help with auction, we need another hammer whacker lol Nice one Jim..
  18. D There was around 700 quid collected on the weekend last year, I put it in my bank, then transferred into the just giving page.. Everyone knew the total raised on the weekend before we left, and could see the transaction... Transparency is key when dealing with the money, there can be no bad air then..
  19. Your a good man Jim... I'm glad your post survived, it shows the effort some put in... Nice one mate..
  20. I'll be getting some bits from the tackle shop again john. I'll also donate some prizes donated from my business, which can be raffled or auctioned off. I'm gonna speak to a few of our suppliers and customers again too... Jewsons donated last year, unfortunately the lad who organised that now works for me lol.. Hopefully we see a bit of togetherness from the THL, this is a nice event and well supported, it flys the THL banner in a positive light!!
