  1. dogs that show precocious brilliance are more likely to die by misadventure than their slower maturing comrades
  2. the greyhound prices are gone so bad that you could buy an open class dog for that now.an interesting cross is the sealyham/russell //sporting lucas type
  3. pound for pound in the lighter weights the glen is designed for drawing long flexible strong back, short powerful legs, very strong jaws and huge teeth..Youd be very surprised with their abilities in dog on dog situations - ive heard of them killing bull terriers etc. in kennell accidents.
  4. she might get sense with a bit more work (or get killed)
  5. theres one for sale in wicklow on donedeal (nothing to do with me)
  6. anyways sorry for digressing from the topic at hand,i dont think the days of the setter or pointer are numbered yet..the link to gossips pedigree wouldnt load for some reason (sorry about confusion). The dog that won the irish coursing derby this year should be interesting to see on the track (track bred)
  7. Can't realy agree with that, mate ! Everything is continualy evolving, even dogs ! Just look at the coursing dog, the Saluki Hybrid is a relativly modern phenomenon, but is generaly accepted as the best hare coursing dog in the world, now ! Cheers. Thats true, I used to watch crufts and see these wee fluffy terrier types prancing and the commentator would say.... this dog was once used for badgers!!! I know its a bad example cos I personally hate the kennel club but you know what I mean and at the very least, I do lol. Ba, I would say that the "Crufts,KC" dogs have degenerat
  8. was there a dash of staff in the diddycye dogs?
  9. dont use donedeal to sell them unless ye want to talk to every weirdo in ireland + the people who run it are antis..Ive a friend stuck with a whole litter he bred last may-its funny dirt sells a lot faster than well bred dogs for some reason(fools and their money...)
  10. theres been a motor on the boat for the last 150 years, blame the prick who invented that-easily as good as 100000 paddles..I.m.o the boats headed straight for an iceberg..Its the people who look down on you (billionaires not unemployed) that should worry you.

  12. is it anywhere near altcar, might have something to do with it if it is.
  13. I saw a fullbred wheaten near kilcock in county kildare a few years ago that looked a grand size for earthwork, definitely not more than 22 or 23 lb.
  14. What did you cross them with? patterdale or russell?
  15. good post Dm ,The plummer breed could be the best terrier breed there is,only for people fighting over nothing, imagined slights etc. I.M.O the powers that be within plummers started worrying about things like colour too early-theres lines of them that work very well- but as far as i can see there is no selection of breeding stock in that direction
  16. i might be breeding plummer blooded dogs later this year(not fullbred)- off workers though ,if your interested pm me
  17. Id say they could if given the oportunity-its illegal to hunt badger in ireland and england. From what ive seen of them working-they dont seem to feel pain at all.The brother of my friends glen is in korea. They were bred for badgers. ================================================== hi tinytiger who is brother of my friends ? do they work on badger in korea now ? could you let me know phone number or website or email of them ? Sorry i dont know his name,He was bred by christy Hartnett (r.i.p) from, (feohanagh Tadhg x feohanagh sarah)..My friend has its brother-as far as i know
  18. Not everyone kills for fun. I shoot crows, but if my daughter brought one in,Im pretty sure we`d end up nursing it or whatever. Own reasons and all that..... edited to say, nice pics Liam. A tame crow is some fuucker ,one fell down a friends chimney (as a chick ) and they reared it-it would land on the rooves of cars and peck the head off people as they got out..Ive seen 2 foxes that were kept as pets, both by diggers.

  20. i wouldnt or if i did it would be to a dog that was killing them in short order.
  21. if you trace the pedigree of any glen back to the 40s or 50s ,they only go back to 6 or 8 different ancestors one of which carried peters gormans prefix as you said.Id say you are bang on about the origins of irish terriers..I had a right good halfbred glen bitch coming on but she got killed on the road about a fortnight ago.
