  1. Haha...She walks at my side with a slack lead with a harness on... pulls like a train using her collar...... Had a staff do exactly the same years ago
  2. Certainly doesn't look a bull x, so that's a +. Nice pup . Does look collie/whip/grey, at 19" and 6 months now, I'd say she end up 22"-23"
  3. Socks, a little off topic, sort of, but do your parents still have that sloughi, and how is he shaping up? was a very nice pup that He is coming on nicely mate ... He is just over a year old and 29 inches and 70lbs ... He is a f****r for cats and kills them for fun ...,he has had a few rabbits but hasn't run anything else yet ... To be honest he has only just started to run properly and not like a gangly young giraffe ..... Cracker

  5. what a load of cack, you must have poor standards then, speed is always needed at some time, so is obedience and the 3 I've seen were brought up by decent dog men, the odd dog may make it but unless you've bought and raised one off him then why comment ???Not cack, and where have I mentoined speed, trainability etc? I've never owned a beddy x either. BUT, I know my own ability to raise and train and make a reasonable worker out of a dog that hasn't got 20 generations of workers behind it.speed is something that's missing in a first cross and brains when there is only beddy and greyhound in the

  7. Was thinking something similar. I know some collies can be a bit sensitive, weird even, but there are plenty that can be absolute raging fiends and are afraid of nothing and have guts/aggression aplenty. And a trip to some of the farms in my area to have a look at a few of these dogs would very quickly dispel any thoughts about them being soft etc. Soft?!
  8. I've never bought a pup from a commercial breeder, but if I did it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if they bred ten or a hundred litters a year. Once I got that pup home, it'd be raised the same as all my pups, and WOULD make a reasonable worker
  9. So f**king what! He aint doing anything wrong, or is he?
  10. You know most people on here won't believe this post, a 23 inch collie/grey that can catch hares and take foxes !!. Sounds a belter
  11. If one of the dogs caught 105 rabbits, I'd say yes, that is pushing it a bit. I don't care who disagrees with me or whatever, but seeing as I am not a keeper, pest controller, professional hunter or someone that needs to 'test' their young dogs to the limit for whatever reason, I find all this 'numbers' crap very disheartening, and am not surprised that there are so many potentially good young dogs being ruined every f**cking year!
  12. Fond of mutton, isn't that all lurcher types/x's?! lol
  13. I believe so, blackgreyound off here, bunnys another, and a few more, oh and not forgetting bird
  14. Think my missus is part collie, she can tell when my bag is getting full and acts accordingly too! does she not need to give you a fortnight's notice for it to react lol Just a week

  16. Simple, the internet, ruination of terrier and lurcherwork. The last maybe 10 years especially. 60's 70's and into the 80's collie x's or lurcher x lurcher with collie on both sides would've been the predominating types for all lurcherwork, with deer/greys or beddy/greys in certain areas a close second. Not having a personal dig at you, but there have been, and still are some very powerful efficient fox killing collie x's around that love the job. The fact you've not seen em doesn't mean they don't exist, or that you need a bull x for the job
  17. Many of the older people on here were brought up in an era when we didn't even own a camera, never mind posting pics on facebook, hunting forums or whatever to prove what we caught. Seen more collie x's taking fox than any other type
  18. One of the best posts I've read on here for quite a while
  19. Something about 21" tts with good feet, coat, and brains
  20. Yeah I'd say that's pretty committed, but without knowing the exact background of your bitch, bad experiences, frights etc, it'd be difficult for anyone to give a half decent answer to your question. Anyway, no malice intended a t b
  21. This to me sounds like you're not that committed either way, and that's not a put down
