  1. Some very good points raised in this thread, and a couple by trenchfoot and timmy k excellent. Would it not be even better to drop the word 'sport' out of any literature, campaigns, stalls etc concerned with hunting and the countryside? I've said before I know very little of politics generally, but I know alot of people, non hunters etc, are more sympathetic/understanding about hunting in general if 'sport' isn't used in the conversation, as the very word says we're doing it for fun, having a laugh etc, which is another piece of ammunition antis pick up on and use against hunters, shooters and
  2. rich its all about the $ big big money on the races in quatar and dubai very wealthy young arabs with money to burn ,im not giving you the bollox i know one man he has at least dogs they are just toys !!. becouse most are sal crosses from syria Do you mean greyhound crosses? yes some arabs inport greys from ireland for breeding Not a dig, but why are they importing greyhounds to breed to their salukis if the salukis are already fast enough? Doesn't make sense to me. the y dont give a shit about salukis they want dogs that wi
  3. I see your point mate, but I don't really buy that. The countries, states etc, which collectively cover many many thousands of square miles, that salukis are native to will have several different lines, strains, breeding etc. They would't need to add greyhound, or anything else, to widen the gene pool. Like I said, not having a dig, but I don't see the point in adding greyhound if their dogs are already fast enough

  5. Lol daywalker. I don't know too much about pures, but I'm only aware of smooth and feathered. Think the woolly ones , are the ones over here that have beddy, norfolk etc in their breeding
  6. He could have anything in him to be fair his sire came from County Durham as a deer/grey and 26tts and his dam was bought as a deer/grey x whippet and just looked like a broken coated whippet at 21 tts she is one of the gamest dogs I've ever seen would tackle anything just lacked stamina which mine seems to have in abundance so hopefully I've got the best out of both parents what Evers in him he's 22 n half tts at present don't know if he'll grow much more but signs are he will make a good all round dog Hope he comes good for you
  7. Hi mate, it's not just your dog. Many young dogs take a bit of time picking up. As you say, at 10 months he's still a young dog, and alot of young dogs aren't really comfortable about striking at something until they've managed to sort out their balance and coordination out first. At 10 months he'll still be learning all that running, balance etc. And all dogs are different, some will learn/develope quicker than others. Hope that was a bit of help. It may be the pic, but he looks to have something else in his breeding? Anyway, nice pup a t b
  8. Stalking?! Is there collie in them? Only kidding, I know plenty of dogs of all sorts stalk, not just collies lol. I do like the look of these pups, and they look to have a cracking coat coat and feet mate but well put together when you look at the litter. Nice. Coat looks similar to my lad's pat pup. It's sort of smooth/broken, but harsh as feck
  9. Yep, her name was Blondi. Just googled it, she was given to him as a gift in 1941 by Martin Borman.

  11. That's a nice bitch marsh lad, how's she bred, size etc?
  12. Seen more than a few whip/collie/greys well under 24" tts tackle allsorts, and not be found wanting in any department, speed, brains and guts
  13. I personally still think this type is probably the best allround dog, especially on the lamp. Speed, stamina, good feet, tough, agile, intelligent and generally a very good coat, whether smooth or rough
  14. Said the same a few months back, not just facebook, but the internet in general will be/is the ruination of terrier and lurcherwork, especially the last 10 years. No-one needs to put any pics up to prove what they've caught, and why some people post the crap they do is beyond me. The internet has given all those opposed to hunting all the ammunition they need to ensure the ban will never be repealed
  15. I know that, but you get my drift, not all terrier breeds were created to go to ground. So saying the clue is in the name 'terrier/earthdog' doesn't really hold up
  16. Also ALOT of terriers, regardless of terrier meaning 'earth' were never ceated to go to ground, staffs, pits, airdales, manchesters, yorkies etc etc, so that theory doesn't hold up either. 3rd rate cull etc?! I had a russell bitch many years ago that was the most committed bushing dog I've ever seen, even to this day, and that was 40 years ago! Oh f**k, yep, she would occasionally drop to ground
  17. Slowly, still can't get my head around how some people, not you, confuse rabbits and hares, hares are twice the size, apart from the physical charecteristics, colouration etc. Anyway, well done
  18. You certainly have an easy to understand, no nonsense way of dealing with things! Lol I know you're only kidding ................ I hope!
  19. Politics?! . As far as I'm concerned it doesn't make a blind bit of difference who you vote for when it comes to hunting and the ban. While some of politicians will slyly say things that people want to hear, it'll only be to get more votes, period. Can't ever see the ban being lifted, but we can live in hope, and as a few have said before, crack on but be careful and don't draw attention to yourself . Just seen the above post lol
  20. probably the most underestimated dog in the field. But when ye get a good one your hooked Correct sir
  21. Enjoying this thread very much, some cracking dogs here. Pity I don't have any pics to share, so I'll just shout this ......... I LOOOVE WHIPPEEEETS!! Lol
