  1. there 300 notes Made me chuckle that lol not for me, I'm just being nosey and besides I know a breeder that would gift me one. Tho I'd be more interested in a non ped if I'm honest and was seriously gonna get onee You thought about whippet X lurcher? As in one parent a racey lurcher and the other a whippet? Just chucking the idea out there. Might be a shit idea. Lol. Saw one a few years ago and it was a belter. Think the Dam was collie/bull/whip/grey and Sire racing whippet. Was a really nice animal. Looked like a strong 22" whippet. Gaz.that's been done a LOOONG LOOONG time ag
  2. yeh in a way , but suppose because ive killed things for 30 years, just wanted to know if anybody ever felt like that , still like meat so nothing changed .!! RAY........................................
  3. There's been pure whippets as big as that, and bigger, long before MB started breeding his dogs, which incidentally are derived from a lot of laguna breeding. I owned a bich 30 years ago that was 21.5" tts, that was mainly nimrodel, cockrow and nevedith bred. And the sire and dam of my last whippet, different breeding, but with some same dogs in pedigree, 24 years ago were 22.5" and 21.5" respectively. Big whippets are not a recent or rare thing. Not being funny, just highlighting that there's pretty much always been big, and small, purebred whippets about
  4. Fairplay gaz, most of the pics I've seen of this bitch she's gleaming
  5. Yeah, that's kind of what I meant really. Can't see that type being bred with hunting/work in mind
  6. i am just curious why you think that its ok for coursing/saluki bred type pups to be that much and not any other lurcher? Wouldn't personally pay that sort of price for a pup, but that's been the sort of price that I've seen some coursing bred pups being advertised for. And LPD I wouldn't really know how much, or how little, coursing bred pups go for these days. Just making an observation really
  7. Just had a quick look at the classified section . Deerhound/borzoi x deerhound/greyhound pups. £500 for bitches £450 for dogs . I could sort of understand those sort of prices if they were coursing/saluki bred type pups, but not litters such as these. Anyone interested in taking one on?
  8. My first dog of my own was a whippet ( well may have had something else in there but basically a whippet), was 7 or so when I got him, called him Haglar after marvellous Marvin, went everywhere with me, got a real soft spot for whippets. To reply to the above posts; I think this is the case with many lads on here, they believe that they need 'a machine' etc etc, or 'the best' type/cross, when in reality a whippet would more than cover alot of their hunting needs. W, Katchum, I knew you were really a secret whippet admirer lol
  9. Lol, it's all in good fun, I can assure people . And as much as some people might dislike them, there's no getting away from the fact that some of the lads/lasses that own them, have some of these bull x's in tip top condition. Oh yeah, roy I'm not likely to ever own a decent bull x either, and you're right, I've personally never seen a really good bull x work, a fair few lurchers with a bit of bull in that were more than decent, but not just bull/grey
  10. Only if you shave them first lol
  11. Especially the feathered types lol
  12. Underrated and underestimated, I love the little feckers
  13. lol cheered my morning right up that lol
  14. I totally agree with you shaaark. How lads can say they are lurchers is beyond me mate. Useless lumps n good for nothing. Pedantic and controversial my posts/comments can sometimes be. But bite, you will not get out of me, oh bull cross owner lol.Edited to add, I will say it til my dying breath, bull crosses are NOT lurchers, and as you've just said king, are useless lumps of nothing, that offer NOTHING to proper lurcher work Shaark was you ever molested by a bull cross owner lol or did you catch the missus in with one you owned lol, there is therapy available ,go out and catch some foxes w

  17. And can I just say, out of ALL lurcher types, which incidentally, I don't cosider bull x's as such, that you COULD NOT pay me enough to own one. Don't care what anyone has to say about them. They ARE NOT lurchers
  18. It's a well known fact, especially on here, that whippets are useless as working dogs. Just get a bull cross, WILL catch everything, pre ban or otherwise, mice to red deer
  19. I think it's because it's nice when like minded folk have got an interest in what you are doing. They ask questions and offer ideas etc. But you often get more negative responses than positive on here, regardless of what you are doing or how you are doing it. Lol, yep. And it's a bit like 95% of people on here crabbing whippets cos they are SHITE, FACT. But it's ok now cos there's a good chunk of whippet in the original minshaw dogs lol. Slightly off topic, but there we are lol
  20. Probably was pal but still no need to post, it's just annoying lol That was the reason indeed. And as gaz said, you don't need to justify your choice of dog. As long as you're happy, why should you give a toss as to what others think
  21. Great that . Yep, those whippets are too fragile to run over rough ground though! lol
  22. Very very capable type, and for more than just rabbits, even if the ban does get lifted. Cracking types
