  1. Foibles = eccentricity etc. Not disagreeing with you blacky, but seen alot of all sorts of foibleistic behaviour in beardie crosses far more often than just border crosses ?
  2. My old dog had an 1/8 in him, and it was far too much. Intersestngly though, none of the border collie crosses I've seen, have displayed the same behaviour as the ones with beardie in. Some have had a few little foibles, but nowhere near the same degree, or as many as the ones with beardie in
  3. Honestly mate, the one I owned, sired by taffy out of a mongrelly but very greyhoundy bitch, was my best catch dog. But the f****r did my head in VERY regularly. And the dogs I've seen, and I've seen several with beardie in, have been, like I said earlier, faaar too much headwork, from past up until fairly recently, roughly the last 3-4 years. I will NEVER own another dog with beardie in it
  4. I know some will obviously disagree with this, and I aint gonna get into too much, but I've owned a dog with beardie in, and seen plenty of others. And almost without exception, they were all far too much headwork. And I'm talking from 30 odd years ago upto present day. Not for me, by a loooong way
  5. Lol I just reread the whole thread ?
  6. Who are you wanting thrashed bill? ?
  7. I been moaning about it for weeks. Don't mind a few hot days here and there, but week after week of screaming hot sunshine FAAACKIN SKUUULLS ME!! ?
  8. Looks a useful type him, more terriers should be utilised for their versatility. Cracking that mate ?
  9. Plenty of gay feckers own some of these 'macho' type poweful dogs. Not just gays though, insecure, egotistical nerks, especially amongst the bull x lurcher enthusiasts. It's ok blacky, I'm on way to shed to get spade out in readiness,........... to dig myself out ? .............. ? ?
  10. Do ya feel lucky punk, well, DO YA?! ? Welcome mate, some knowledgeable lads on here ?
  11. ? ............. now I agree with that bill ☺ ?
  12. Fair play, they do look very nice pups ?
  13. What happened to their other reverse bred border/beardie stud casanova, he'd only be about 4 years old?
  14. ? .................... ? ........... sorry, couldn't help mysef lol. Did you mean 'pendulous' years mate? Could've been worse though, she might've had feathery pendulum ears! ? lol. No harm meant mate ?
  15. Well, that makes slightly more sense than your other post, but just slightly. And I don't expect you to understand properly what I said either, but there's a few on here that will ?
  16. Disagree with you bill. What you're saying here doesn't make sense. I know full well that there are plenty of young dogs with only 2 seasons work behind them, and have been worked far more regularly than some 5 or 6 year old dogs, and have taken plenty of various game over various types of terrain, and have remained sound and very keen. What you're saying is because the dog is relatively young, it's not as desirable a stud as an older dog? Quitting on game or whatever can happen at 3 years or 7 - 8 years
  17. That's partly what I was getting at. If you put in enough work to any dog or bitch, you'll know if they're worth breeding off long before they reach 5 or 6 years of age. Like you say, at 2-3 years of age, some dogs will have been worked harder and more frequently, than some 4 or 5 year old dogs. And if they've remained sound, and have shown the abilities etc you desire, then you'll know what you have on your hands
  18. If you put in enough work, of whatever type, to a dog, you should know long before it's 5 or six years of age, if it's worth breeding from. Not trying to be clever, but alot of people are waiting far too long to use potentially great dogs at stud because 'everyone else' says 'they need at least 4 or 5 years graft' before they'd consider using them. ....... hogwash!
  19. Ffs davo, don't get him on the henry westons! He could get a tad uncontrollable! Lol. Looks a strong un, but quite racy too in those pics ?
  20. Yeah it,s definitely been getting warmer AFTER 2 o clock the last few years. And the coolest night we've had round my way the last four weeks has been 14°, five nights ago. Night before last it was 20° at midnight! Much too warm to be running dogs for extra fitness at this time of year. And to black neck, it's not just my opinion mate, it's a medical, physiological fact. Plus round our way the ground is still rock hard, despite the fact we've had a few very light spells of drizzle. We haven't got a running dog at moment, but me and the mrs only take 'her' mini schnauzer over the river, 10
  21. Early or late, don't make much difference really. Still far too warm to be trying to get dogs fit. And to those that are already lamping their dogs in these conditions, well, it beggars belief. Ok, take your dogs out early or late evening for a bit of exercise, but make sure you're close to riverbanks etc
