  1. My lad has a cracking whippet bitch at moment, just over 13 months old now I think, that is recall trained with one of those variable pitch whistles. Couple of quick toots of it and she's back in an instant, even with his other older lurcher around. He might see this thread later, but he doesn't come on here that often anymore ?
  2. Looks a nice dog. Just thought he looked like he had a drop of bull in there somewhere. Seen a few mainly saluki/greys with a small dash of bull in that look like him ?
  3. Nice dogs mate, any bull blood in the older dog?
  4. Yeah, with a bit of afro - caribbean blood ☺
  5. I think you're doing pretty much the right thing mate. There's more than a few people on here, and they aint all youngsters either, that have started their pups at 4, 5 and six months old, and those dogs are now still paying the price for it, or have been 'moved on' cos 'they weren't suitable'. Keep up with the patience mate ?
  6. Lol like you say mate, a tad overkill for a few bunnies lol. Would think it'd take a couple of generations to get the size down. But what the f**k do I know, I've just been singing englebert humperdick tracks!
  7. Beeean release meee leeet me gooo, for IIII don't love youuu anymoooore! Now that's a classic, ENGLEBEAN HUMPERDINCK ?. What the f**k is wrong with me?! Can't even blame it on the heat, or lack of sleep last night, slept like a log ?
  8. You're not wrong mate. It's like trying to find a genuinely bred lurcher pup! ? .............. ? ?
  9. Yeah lol, I'm eating a few now with my late brekky lol ?
  10. That's the mighty salukis' heritage out the window then ☺. 8oo years is f**k all compared to them lol ?
  11. No no, I think there was a bit of greyhound in them ☺. Like I say, very good dogs, one about 26", father to a bitch I had, that got stolen from my garden, the other one about 25" ?
  12. Couple of fellas I know had a couple of very nice dogs off him, about 30 years ago. Very good dogs. No poodle, husky or whatever in them those days. Edited to add, just rembered, they suppoesdly had some of mick douglas' dogs in them too. Don't know if it was true. Anyway, like I said, both very good dogs
  13. Just had a look on greyhound superstore. £450, 3 - 4 week waiting list ?
  14. Cracking litter. Those grizzle pups are belters ?
  15. That's the way mate. As others have said, four months is way too young. Also when you take him out over the next few months, take him where there aren't any rabbits. Doubt and frustration will very quickly happen if the dog aint catching what it runs. Good luck with him ?
  16. I'll stick to my kc ped whippets, and first cross whip/greys. Couldn't hack a paperweight type dog. I know they're mainly racing types, but that aint my cup of tea ?
  17. I don't have much experience at all with non peds mate. With plenty of greyhound on both sides, how do they throw such small dogs?! All my kc ped whippets were heavier than 22lb when they were about 7 months old, even the bitches. Is it breeding smaller type to smaller type, even though there's greyhound in there?
  18. Cracking animal that. Is it out of a bigger type non ped than it's sire?
  19. Just looked that dog up bill. Is that right, he only 22lb?
  20. Exactly the same with all my whippets too. None of em opened up when in pursuit, ever. And all had great feet. In fact, I really don't know where most of this 'whippets got shit feet' comes from, cos I've never seen one with bad feet! Talking pure whippets mind, not non peds
  21. Don't know about others from same litter, but my lads bitch is 21". He put a pic up of her on here a few weeks back, brindle bitch. I'll have a look for the thread now ? Pages 66/ 67 on this thread. Not his shoes though lol ?
  22. Yep, the kc sire to my lads kc bitch is 22 3/4" tall, and has had a very good working career. Him over a good size greyhound bitch would be the possibility of some top class pups
  23. Yep, and I have to say, taking everything into consideration, these days I'd have to have another 1st cross whip/grey bred down from some of those same lines. I don't want a fox dog, or a coursing dog, or a dog that I can train to do 15 different things with. Whip/greys suit me to a T ?
  24. For me bill, dogs with a fair bit of nimrodel and nevedith in em were great ?. Have to say mind, the last 20 ish years, I certainly haven't kept my eye on the ball, and there are are probably pure whippets from different lines doing really well. But even the good lines today, will have come from those good lines of years ago
