  1. it was a saluki pup about 12 months ago if i remember rightly .....breed by someone with the username ..silverpaws !! Your right mate, any idea what was wrong. Sorry Tiff - missed your post.
  2. don,t use collars,i,m a bit old fashioned lol,but i know what your saying about character,i got the impression yesterday ones going to be very determined and the others a bit less, but it was only first time so time will tell, cheers (some idiot on here dyed his pink!) just since i was brung up i will say in my defence the dye was only food dye and lasted like 3 days , im total new to ferreting and i had a silly idea , and NOW nobody will let me live it down thanks again ideation lol Sorry mate, idiot was a bit harsh, but i think it really is one of the daftest things i'v
  3. Nothing wrong with being a tad lower at the front end than back, i've seen many dogs like this, especially smaller dogs and it makes for a really good strike. Mickmck - she looks really good mate, a really nice stamp of an animal. P.s - first pic is a bit strange, i think it's the light but it does look a bit two separate dogs stuck together!
  4. Yes, Collie/Grey is right it wasn't her dog, as i have seen pics of her dog. This was a wee pup. Odd thing was it's legs were bowed INWARDS.
  5. Yer its a good portrayal, and also shows how the skinhead movement was hi-jacked by a minority of racist thugs.
  6. Maybe same as a game keeper would use to spin out corn?
  7. Re the dog / gun thing. Not all dogs can/could/would kill, but every firearm of a certain type could. I am not saying there SHOULD NOT be any control over dogs (which incidently there is so i don't really see your point???), i'm just asking a perfectly reasonable question about whether folk on here feel that maybe the time has come for some kind of control over air rifles? I'm not suggesting there SHOULD be, just asking for opinions. I know ideally we would just have a control on morons and c**ts and then air rifles, vicious dogs or 8ft dildos wouldnt cause any problems (i've got my eye on you
  8. Fair play. . . . . .now that IS funny.
  9. I know what you mean RFYL, i do enjoy reading te right ups, but sometimes it gets VERY in depth, with 24 photos of the 8 week old kit thats been shot, from every possible angle. Like many have said we can learn a lot from them in regards to their positive attitude and helpfulness, but at the same time there is SOMETHING i can't quite put my finger on which i find a little creepy or strange. . . . it's like a group of boy scouts (as i have said before) who spend a huge number of their posts telling each other how wonderful they are and handing out 'slut points' right left and center for every k
  10. Do you know anyone with a dog that can mark?
  11. I find a decent secateurs, short of long handled, does the job better and looks less dodgy.
  12. don,t use collars,i,m a bit old fashioned lol,but i know what your saying about character,i got the impression yesterday ones going to be very determined and the others a bit less, but it was only first time so time will tell, cheers Don't have to necessarily be locator collars, could just be a regular collar, pick them up for a couple of quid. Apart from just getting used to them, the only way to mark them apart is to either do something to the ferrets, which i wouldnt recommend (some idiot on here dyed his pink!) or attach something to the ferrets, and a collar is the logical option.
  13. The more you handle them the easier it will become to tell them apart. Other than this if your having problems at a glance when working - try different color collars.
  14. glad it worked out for you despite the let down this morning. Cheers mate, it wasn't anything like a proper day, but it was nice to get a bit of action, and considering this jill hasnt been worked since end of feb, she did a cracking job. She switched on straight away and pushed about 20 rabbits out fairly quickly. Only 8 were properly visible to me, I shot at 7 and took 6, so i'm pretty pleased with myself and her. Was a bit frustrating hearing them drum and break from the other side of the hedge tho! And i was back by 11, in time for a nice steak and ale pie.
  15. Right so here is an update! I was meant to be heading out again today, this time to a new farm where there is a fair rabbit problem. The plan was just to have a bit of a look see and figure out the best way to do it etc. As i only have one working jill right at this moment and also it's hedge rows, i arranged for a mate to come along, bringing a couple of his ferrets. Got a text as i was getting into the motor to go and pick him up, telling me he couldnt make it as he was sick Problem is i had arranged to meet the farmer to get shown around, so couldnt not go. I knew it was going to be

Took myself, one ferret and the 410. Good hour out.

  17. Hey, cheers for all the help, but it wasn't that pup. There was a pic on here on a much younger dog with f****d legs. Not sure that it belonged to anyone on here or was just a picture that was put up.
  18. Not sure it was a wee saluki looking pup i think with all four legs bowed inwards at the knuckle.
  19. I know what your saying mate and its frustrating but your right a collar is a bit harsh. . . at the end of the day he's trying to get game, so its a bit conflicting. If you were using him in the day time as well it would be a good thing. My advice i guess would be to work on the recall, so that he comes back as son as you whistle and then as soon as you turn off lamp. I've seen dogs that will hunt up a treat in the day and not do so at night. Good luck.
  20. Scothunter . . . saw this and thought of you mate. http://www.tanksforsale.co.uk/
  21. Yer i was thinking rickets but apparently the leg is bending inwards - i'd have expected it to bow outwards if it was rickets.
  22. Do you remember that picture that was on here with the pup that had bent legs? What was wrong with it, my mate has a terrier pup that has it in one leg he thinks? I've not seen the pup.
