  1. In all honesty i have never heard from someone who has actually had one and doesnt rate them extremely highly. what sort of size do these lines make ?atb lampy 19-22 tts on average i'd say.
  2. How old is the dog mate? Do you mean direct daughter or line bred to sooty sam?
  3. You lucky mate . . . . . where do you live? Where we are there are plenty of rabbits but even more warrens.
  4. I think on average terriers make for a better marking dog with regards to the ease with which they pick it up and how good they are at it, i really believe that most terriers can learn to mark. Lurchers seem to take a little longer to click and some just dont get it, especially certain breeds. However a lurcher that does mark is better for me than a terrier that does because they tend to be quieter and less insistent on trying to get to the rabbit themselves. Mind you most lurchers that i have seen mark well seem to have learnt from the terriers they are worked with.
  5. Since the hunting ban the ownership of rifles with a ticket for fox has risen hugely. It is now the number one method of fox control and is far more efficient than hunting with dogs could ever be. And a rifleman could clear land of charlie far quicker than a dogman.

  7. O yes muslims are far far far worse than rapists, murderers or pedophiles. Get a grip.
  8. Should be absolutly fine for what you want as long as you train and bring it on right . . . . . there is a certain snobbery amongst the digging guys who believe any above ground work is 'not really work'. Good luck with you pup. . . . i'm sure she will make you very happy!
  9. Hello Mate, yes you can buy direct from Mike, his dogs are first rate and he is a really top bloke, who is very willing to give you as much info and chat as much as you like before you make any decisions. I would HIGHLY recommend his pups, healthy, well socialised, big strong pups. I have one in my kennel now and would not swop him for the world. His dogs have SOME drive and are game as f**k, they are more than capable of taking most quarry that they are put on, but obviosuly make ideal rabbit dogs . . . . . although they make excellent retrievers also They also seem to have fantastic noses.
  10. Where do you lamp? I think you should come out and see some dogs run a few before mouthing off about bullshit, i have seen five caught regularly on the lamp on some real good hares mate. I dont think you would be able to buy one for a grand but if you have some money in your pocket bring it with you and we can have a small bet. As stated in an earlier post this was an exceptional night,in winter, around salisbury plain so dont keep on about what wont be caught.Your dogs may not be as good as you think you know its easy to become kennel blind. Why run rabbits on a golf course and take a chance
  11. Speak to Ned Makin on here.
  12. This is a very good point - if you see ten foxes at 250 yards out with the dog, how many could your dog take single in a night, even if it could close with them all? With a rifle i could drop at least 9 if not 10 and it makes no difference which is fitter. . . .. . .. .. . .. they all go.
  13. Yep i should have said lurcher men, but thats clearly who i ment...fair point . I was really trying to avoid a dogmen vs riflemen theme,. . . . . . .. which you have nicely made sure is now there. If you read back over my previous posts you will see that i have addressed this point about lurcher men wanting to do it also. I agree, of course many would, the dog world is full to the brim with idiots now, however their chosen method just means they cannot be as prolific no matter how they might wish. What the jist of this thread is about is the seeming attempts to eradicate foxes in
  14. Starbursts. . . . . . its a f*****g OPAL FRUIT! Or when those b*****ds made Twister ice lollies like half the size. . . . .. wtf is that all about? Dark times i say . . . . .

From september to end of feb most weekends and sometimes twice a week, and never have i seen young in the belly in october november and december Aye but it's the fifth of september . . . . . . it was August 5 days ago. You would expect to see young in august so 5 days later they are not ALL going to have magically disappeared. You are very lucky if you have never seen a pregnant rabbit at the start of september. . . . . . its very normal within their breeding cyc

  19. Sorry - I would start by making sure that they have plenty of tubes to run through, and spend a lot of time handling them, especially as they come in and out of the tubes, this will reduce any chance of skulking at the mouth of the holes. I would also spend sometime letting them run around your feet, maybe in a garage or the garden, this just makes them a bit more used to your feet and will make them less hassle when your working around them. Also you can try using a particular whistle or noise when you are feeding them, this can be really handy if you need to whistle a ferret out of
  20. Spot on. . . . . . . its a sad world we now live in, in many areas the country side is looking a bit like a waste ground.
  21. Just noticed these are your FIRST AND ONLY posts. . . . . . .good way to make friends and influence people. . . . . . .how do we know that your not just some anti trying to stir shit?
  22. LOL.... tit. 23. Never met a shooter who stood up for the dogmen when we were getting banned..... naa, I'm happy with what I'm allowed to hunt with my dogs and if the government deem that rearing birds for the sole purpose of shooting them for fun isn't really hunting....... Then they are on their own. whats going to happen if the government ban shooting as well,no pheasant rearing,no grouse moors no land management, then the countryside will be fecked.say goodbye to wildlife, build more housing estates, etc, etc Don't kid yourself. Farmers do more to the countryside than any shoot. How many shoots are
  24. Indeed, perhaps you are right, i know some will make it out and survive, but they lack that learning from the vixen that is so area specific, so its a hard battle. It just seems its getting worse and worse and worse in so many areas of our sports. . . . . . . all this talk of killing rather than hunting and folk that genuinely claim to 'hate' foxes etc People who do it for the numbers whatever the quarry. For a large part it seems to be those that live in the towns and see the country side as some kind of playground. . . . . . or a place to go and have a jolly. They of course dont notice
