  1. My mates six year old daughter has asked for a fox tail for xmas Does anyone have a spare one thats dried/cured whatever and not coated in mud/blood
  2. Long, Cold, Hard days shooting. Finished on 97 birds picked before dark.

  3. Popped another one out today with the spaniels on our shoot. Also got offered a half springer half pat (free) - accidental mating, but both parents good workers and might be interesting, look like slightly smaller springers.
  4. How'd you fancy moving to wales? I seen the pups and they look like CRACKERS!
  5. Its only bad for bunnies. Still a f****r though. Only use for mixi is giving pups an easy score.
  6. Your all right. . . . . . . . . .Apart from danw.
  7. All of this 'they always come back' and 'they have survived a worse winter'. . . .. but what if next winter is very bad and the next and the next and the next and so on indefinitely getting worse and worse. . . . .which is a real possibility. We'll be a bit f****d then before adaptation and evolution eventually occur.
  8. Scafell / ennerdale / eskdale I like the woolpack inn
  9. If it does a job of work its a working dog regardless of breed. A working dog is made by action not a label.
  10. Each dogs different and she'll probably grow out of it
  11. Aye but if your going to get insurance get it from some one recognized.
  12. That was to Ryangolding matey It's the same here, the numbers are definitely down and we're having to walk a lot further, without the dogs we would be screwed, as we are walking past huge numbers of active looking holes and getting no marks. We're still doing ok but probably half what we should. Also noticed that we are getting a lot less per set, often only one rabbit from 10/20 holers. All good sport any how.
  13. Take someone with you and either you or they stay with the dog at first, while the other sets the nets etc, that way you can tell her what to do and calm her, Let her have a poke about while your netting up and just hold her and let her have a watch and listen to whats going on down there, she will definatly pick up the rabbits moving and will know when its about to bolt. Do this for a bit and when the rabbit has bolted, knock it on the head and throw it to her in the net, let her grab at it and then praise her and take it off her. In the next wee while if she is calm with ferrets, do a small
  14. I think its one of those things, it might be fine forever but there are enough people out there who have lost good dogs over something stupid after years of their dogs getting on fine, to testify to the fact that its probably not worth risking it long term.
  15. I use the 3" as standard. As far as i know there are no BB, i've looked about.
  16. Awwww mate thats tough. RIP Ginger Mick. It just goes to show that no matter how prepared you are and how experienced sometimes things just go wrong beyond your control and theres nothing you can do or could have done, as hard as that is to accept sometimes. Well done on acting so quick to save the other one mind, long may it live to do battle with the bunnies.
  17. Nice one matey! Aye i've noticed the rabbits dont want to bolt in this cold either, the ferrets have had to work double time. Last set we did on sunday was only about 5 holes, ended up with three jills down to shift the one rabbit who thought he would be better making a fight of it (too damn deep and hard ground to dig). After what sounded like WW3 the rabbit tried to slink out with both eyes and half an ear missing. . . . .. only to be leapt on by pup. It was like that all day though with the rabbits giving the ferrets the run around and when caught standing and fighting, nearly everyone cam
  18. Just back from an after work mooch in the beautiful frozen woods with finn and ruby. Two fat rabbits for tea!

  19. MIne all have bald patches on their shoulder blades from some girl on girl love action.
  20. Bollox. No farmer will give a f**k about that. Basc maybe, and thats at a push.
  21. I do find that using 2 ferrets can make for quicker and more exciting ferreting
  22. Nice job did you do the painting?
  23. Plenty of coursing in Hungary.
  24. Like you say it all depends on how deep etc the warren is, you get to know the warrens if you've been there before, and know what works to start with. However saying that i'd probably be happy putting one jill down up to about 20 holes and above 20 two down. 30/40 holes Probably 3 maybe 4. Although sometimes the rabbits just dont want to bolt and so this goes out of the window and i often use 2 jills in 10 holers. The other day we had 2/3 down a 1 holer although thats obviously not ideal, but we wanted that f****r dead.
