  1. Karma mate. Would you like me to hand your in? Might have just taken his last notes out for something real special - who knows? MIght be a sound guy who owns a farm and gives you tons of permish. Might be a c**t. Either way its karma innit.
  2. Did you not read the small print? It's a 'legal' system or 'legal justice' system, not a 'justice' system. It uphold the 'law' not 'justice' Hence why it's so f****d up to anyone sensible.
  3. I'm lucky, i can spit from my front door onto a shoot with a good population of woodcock and have free reign. Not sure mate, down to a lot more than the bird. Driven grouse in a proper wind is always a tough one, as is woodcock walked up over dogs in some of the thick boggy forestry round here, because the birds are twisting up through the trees you rarely even have chance for a shot. Low light flighting teal into woodland ponds is tough. Ummmmm. . . . some of the very high pheasants where you need a good long barrel, heavy shot and a hell of a lot of lead maybe. Easiest shot would
  4. 8 years jai? Serious matey. I've cut with a scissors so i don't look like moses, but my face hasn't seen the light of day in the last 8 years. lol keeps you warm though i bet in this shabby weather Yes mate i let it grow and feel like a polar explorer. Down side is when the mist freezes on it Also i am a little concerned as i don't remember what my face looks like!
  5. A happy dog is a well looked after, well fed, healthy dog that knows its place in the pack and has a job to do. Possible injuries are part of a working dogs life. You just have to be smart and get yourself a few bits and bobs to clean him up. Barbwire is the worse so if its your land think about raising the bottom strand if its horses you have
  6. Fairplay mate, i think it depends where you flighting them and where you stick the guns, often you can put them with a good view of approach down a valley and get more warning than you would normally with woodcock. Also if they have not seen you they are flying a lot slower. The figures speak for themselves, thats how the biggest number are shot here. Never really been my thing, always seen it as much about the dog hunting them up in the kind of cover they hide in as me missing them with the gun Missing flighting woodcock. . . . well you just shooting at stuff and missing Where's the fun?
  7. I'd say woodcock shot while flighting at dawn/dusk are the easiest woodcock you will ever shoot. Disagree there mate. Look at their eyes, they see better in dark/fadeing light. FTB I know what your saying mate but the ones you do get a shot at are plodding a long rather than exploding from beneath your dog and twisting off like a leaf in a gale.
  8. f**k me matey i used to collect them as a kid. Got hundreds about here SOMEWHERE? Used to love finding the really old ones with old school prices on them. Blast from the past that mate cheers!
  9. 8 years jai? Serious matey. I've cut with a scissors so i don't look like moses, but my face hasn't seen the light of day in the last 8 years.
  10. Bet you look hard as f**k using it and all. I'd try one, but not shaved in 8 years.
  11. Yer they learn, after a fashion. But in general when they are 'on game' they don't think about much else. As the owner you just got to know the ground you run and keep your fingers crossed. Your wee dog seems to be having some adventures. If you can get a better pick of him stood up side on with no coat that would be cool.
  12. Would a half x not throw a lot of variation in pups? Be a lot of terrier in some of them. Better with a 3/4 bred or 3/8 - 5/8 maybe?
  13. I got another Q (sorry to hijack thread) - under what circumstances can they destroy your dogs?
  14. It's funny, there has always been a certain hubris amongst dog men about having payed the least for a good dog. A good dog is worth paying for but obviously nice to get for free if your lucky, but people seem to hate saying - aye it cost me 300 quid - but it was f*****g belting! Maybe there are less expectations for a free/unknown dog so its judged slightly less criticly. Whereas with a dog from well known lines your cnstantly looking at it and comparing it.
  15. I'd say woodcock shot while flighting at dawn/dusk are the easiest woodcock you will ever shoot.
  16. Handy you got my youthful eyes then matey. Or maybe you just need to find some bigger bunnies to lamp
  17. For me it's not about how often they get out or how much they catch but the working bond and respect they have with/for their dogs, their quarry, the countryside and the hunt.
  18. Daytime, actually get to see the dogs 'hunt' not just run.
  19. Aye mate block them in, works a treat, Sometimes with the locator you find one bottled up beneath your blockage
  20. I had a sandy jill that used to do that all the time, even my old terrier could catch the bolters that she let out the holes Yes mate it's very handy, there have been a couple of times when the dogs have been busy and one has kicked the net eyeless and i've given it a good course before making a fine strike and retrieving it to hand
  21. Try feeding it meat with a higher fat content - i.e birds - pheasant, pigeon etc. Rabbit is very lean and takes a lot to 'bulk' weight up.
  22. collie x - easy to train and will get a good bond and protective instinct over the kid.
