  1. You are entitled to your view mate, but as i have said i don't really think Mike does sell his dogs "on the back of a show/coursing kennel of the past", i think he sells them on their working ability. When i went to him for a pup, he briefly mentioned laguna, as much as he mentioned any of the other lines in the pups, but mainly we talked of working abilities, not lineage. And i went for said pup after seeing dogs from him work, not after reading the Laguna tag. And i think most others are the same. As i said before he is nothing like hancock. The only similarity is that he does sell pups
  2. What you on about mate? I was talking about the fish.
  3. So i was a bit confused today. . . when a strange scottish bloke rang me when i was in Asda and asked to book a disco!
  4. Read the tense of windyhills post.
  5. Yes i agree he does breed in part for money, to make a living, a long with improving his lines etc. But what is wrong with that. 'Puppy peddling' you will cry, well i don't think it is, if your producing quality dogs, are honest about what you produce etc, and breed far far less than you COULD sell. He has also never said he breeds 'laguna' whippets, just that his dogs carry a chunk of laguna blood, amongst others. You try to compare him to Hancock, in my opinion they are in two TOTALLY different leagues. Can you tell me why exactly selling pups is so bad? If they are well bred, well rear
  6. thats a nice picture we go up kettelwell a lot with me uncle and catch them numbers easy with landing nets in the stock ponds You're a genius mate. . . .
  7. Why don't you ring the man and ask him, i'm sure he will tell you!
  8. I did it a while back to try, just outside in the field for a little bit, shone the light and then belted a tennis ball down the beam, did it maybe 3/4 times and the dog learnt to look down the beam (i had a problem with him being nose to floor before that).
  9. Something like, trout, perch, rabbit, fox, pheasant, pigeon, crow, magpie, rat, squirrel. All out of the same field (apart from the fish!).

  11. "he started talking to me bout the dogs anal" Enough said!
  12. That, is a lovely tale Kay.
  13. Sorry mate, just saw this, all the best to you and your mum. I been through it with a couple of family members and its grueling mate, not nice at all.
  14. The charity collection firm i worked for payed a hourly rate that was just above min wage but you also got payed on commission for sign ups. Some of the best collectors were comming away with a seriously good wage for what was only part time work! The management in the company were doing pretty well for doing what looked like f**k all work. The reckoned statistically the average donar will give about 200 quid in total so there is obviously a minimum number of sign ups neccessary for a collector to be pulling his weight. Anyone wanting to donate would be far better going direct to the charity a
  15. i would`nt do anything from door to door sales ...but i will look into donating in someway ... In my opinion, usually the most valuable thing you can donate is your time. I also try to take as much of my old stuff to the shops they have for them to sell it on and make some cash, and my missus is forever chopping in charity shops. I did a bit of work for a while looking at charities (nt cancer ones) and looking at hoe much of the money actually gets where they say it will. . . . . and often its shocking what they spend it on.
  16. Biggest problem i got is the folk being so nice working for said charity. . . signing you up to pay 5 quid a month, when they are earning 7-8 quid an hour for doing it. They work for 8 hours, and get 2 sign ups. . . . so thats taking 60 quid from the charity but earning them 10 quid a month? Where is the logic in that!!!!
  17. I have one of these and it's an ideal mooching gun, very light weight.
  18. One thing i will say is know the ground you are working, there is one thing doing a bit in a garden etc, but at a farm, you might be facing more rats than you think and the runs are very likely to go under concrete, into wall cavities etc.
  19. Good to hear mate, and good to see you get her sorted.
  20. Really depends where you are and how many rats, but im my opinion, just not worth the risk of messing up a decent ferret, when a smoker will do the job better.
  21. Just for the record, most of the problems surrounding drugs comes from their illegality rather than their inherent 'evilness'.
