  1. As I was in Germany on Sunday, Johnnyboy68 and I didn't get a day out with the ferrets and dogs, so with me getting back yesterday, we decided to have a bit of a mooch today. Got up early, but took a good 15 mins to actually get out of bed, and eventually got underway to johnnyboys, with Finn, and two Jills, a young one bred by johnny and my wee silver faithful. Picked up johnny, one of his jills and Luna, the young bitch, leaving the old girl at home, as she was under the weather. Our first stop was a farm where we usually get a bit of sport for the dogs, a few runs out of cover and o
  2. I've never really got how folk think a dog (or any working animal) can be worked to the best of its ability for a long shift, when it hasn't eaten in maybe more than 24 hours????

  5. Well done matey, out of interest, how many holes to warrent 15 ferrets? Seems like a lot of ferrets to ground??? I know that big sets require a lot, but we've done 100 + holers with a half dozen good ferrets pretty quick.
  6. My old man sorted one for me on one of those internet sites where you can send your own photos in, so its got photos of the dogs, ferrets, fishing, shooting etc that i've done in each month
  7. When i met mine, she had never done any kind of fieldsports. Within the first few months to year of us being together she had been out daytime with the dog lots, been ferreting a lot, been out lamping, been fly fishing, used the shot gun and air rifle, and even learnt to lay snares and caught a rabbit with her first one she did herself. She will happily prepare and cook game of any kind and loves eating it. Even fancies trying her hand at making stuff out of the skins etc, She loves taking the dog and ferret for a mooch but also is happy to not come if i want to get out on my own.
  8. If you are interested in stop nets / short long nets etc, then have a word with albert64 he makes them, and i have one, and it's cracking, very very well made and a useful tool Not sure if he makes the long ones?
  9. Yep, using rayovac and no problems in other collar. I'll try giving it a clean!
  10. Great thread, but f**k me i wish folk would learn to not quote every photo just to write 'nice pics'. I mean, Molls photos ARE great, but not sure i needed to scroll past them 14 times
  11. One of my mrk3 collars seems to be a bit f****d. I put new batts in and it works fine, within a couple of hours the batts are flat as a pancake! Any ideas or anyone had this before?
  12. If you are worried about it being dragged into the box, hang it up.
  13. It's annoying mate, but it's the fault of the idiots cutting the fences. Me and another member on here have a nice big farm we ferret and it looks perfect to lamp. We got ferreting permission no problem, and thought we were well in to get the lamping. Asked the farmer the other day and he was really nice about it but said that they kept getting fences cut, and so no one was allowed on at night and any lamp seen would get a call to the police. Can't blame the farmers really.
  14. Squirrel ferreting . . . . . That's the famous squirrel tree
  15. Some awesome photos on here! Here's a couple of mine, not the best, but i'll try and upload some more later. Got a wee bit carried away, sorry!
  16. f*****g hell, you have the computer skills to sign up to a forum, and post a thread asking the question, but not to google chinese water deer? No mate, f**k all to do with China, they are well known to come from Egypt, and live in the desert Oh, and it's DEER. single or plural
  17. jeez every town in the uk has so called hard men and i dont think frenchie is top of the list in liverpool also lads make it sound like everyone in liverpool is walking round with a piece waiting to whack someone for nothing.......get real kid was 19yr old should know better carn't show right ticket = no ticket big man ...hardly a feckin man mountain your lad...would you condone his behaviour if ticket guy was your old dad would you sit back and say or do nothing if your wife or mother was sat next to him swearing would you sit back and do nothing he paid his penny he took his chance
  18. I think it often depends if they have been worked much or not. Young kits tend to hang about, wheras i think if i dropped my workers down (like you i live surrounded by countryside) i think they would be off at speed scenting for bunnies. Although i guess it's also down to the individual ferret.
