  1. Aye, soak over night in water with salt dissolved in it, draws the blood and so the urea out of the meat. Stops it tasting wank.
  2. One back pack that contains a pile of purse nets (20-50 usually), couple of poke nets, sometimes a stop net, mark 3 box and collars, bottle of water or flask of tea and knife. Short handled shovel attached to bag, along with a rabbit carrying strap. Ferret box hangs beneath back pack. And dog. Minnimum kit is - Dog, 1 collared jill in pocket, mini spade hung on belt.
  3. Shootings just a bit boring in comparisson. And i do both for the record.
  4. And yes carl, you have stolen my murse (man-purse)
  5. Well mate, i've been known to perform the odd miracle or two . . . And yes they are blond streaks Natural ones mind You probably can't tell from the photos but my misses has a few dreads First time johnny met us, he thought we were lacs
  6. I knew i was going to get some stick about it at some point Johnnys kids call me 'jesus jai'
  7. Does anyone (or know anyone who does) keep / breed decent beddy x greys? With little or no whippet in the mix? Any pics would be an added bonus. Cheers
  8. Fairplay mate, well said! And i really hope your mum gets through it ok mate
  9. I really don't care how others ferret, what equipment they have, or what they catch. I responded to this thread because I know the lad who started it ,and it appeared he was being slightly bullied.I rarely post here ,[you will be pleased to know.] I am indifferent to whether a poster is erudite, or illiterate, but if you are lecturing you should perhaps spell the subject correctly? If we wanted this forum to take note of our days out, and our tallies ,I would put end of day pics up on this forum. We don't, and I don't. I am far from an expert on ferreting ,or any other form of f
  10. I love hunting a lone and thats what i always did. But since finding one, i have to say, a decent, reliable hunting partner, who you are in tune with . . . . is worth his / her weight in gold.
  11. What do you hope to achieve that you couldnt buy better elsewhere (with some homework), remember its all very well breeding for 'a pup to keep' but what about the other half dozen you have to do something with?
  12. At which point in any of my posts do I say catching big.biggish numbers and unless they catch dont bother posting I enjoying readiing all threads link to ferretting. It is you who is trying to belittle me along with others if you going to quote what you think my thoughts are please get them write. ATB Cookie Maybe it's just me, but a lot of your posts earlier in this topic and in others have come across as fairly arrogant and condescending. Maybe i read it wrong and it's all in jest. But written humour is often lost in translation. If that's the case however, i apologise. Mo
  13. The one makes a good point. I use a collar, but there have been a few times when the ferret has gone down off the box and you are left scratching your head a bit
  14. Like said, there are plenty of really good lads on here that i have not met but would love to, that i have had some really good chats / laughs with or advise from. As to the ones i have actually met - Johnnyboy68, Malc1, Old Real Tree, Bird, Leepieman have all been sound as feck, and we have shared some really good hunts together. I would now class them as true friends. Johnnyboy offered me a couple of free hob kits from his line after i put up a post on the ferreting section, and that led to us being out together pretty much every week for the last two seasons, some times 2/3 or more
  15. I agree mate. There is something as satisfying about going into a woodland with a good dog and finding a little scent about and tracking the bunny half way across the woodland until you track him down to ground and bolt him out as there is about going out to an easy open field set and bolting 20.
  16. Agree with most things you say . . . . . . but not going ferreting because you cannot afford a locator, or suggesting that one does not value ones ferrets if one doesnt use one . . . . . . is bollocks! We are now in the 21st century our predcessors use to work without such technologly but we now have the chance to increase the chance of retriving a lossed ferret with £200 or cash FACT. I feel that if a hunter can afford a computer and internet connection then his priorty is not with his ferrets as I would willing give up my luxuries in life to fund a must have tool in todays modern fer
  17. This topic has gone sideways My initial post was about the fact that you can't judge a ferreting teams efficiency just by the bag at the end of the day, that was all. Been on plenty of land that any idiot with a ferret and some nets could walk away with 20-30-40 rabbits, but to be honest it's fairly boring mechanical ferreting. I'd rather hunt the rabbits up and take the dozen instead. Then cookiemuppetandmerlin jumped up telling folk that unless they hit big (ish) numbers then don't bother posting any write ups - as no one wants to read them . . . . . . ? and generally trying to beli
  18. Cracking pics malc - especially the one of Bam sat on Lee's back! Rupert was on fire yesterday, a munching machine!

  21. Also driving around on a quad because your to lazy to walk dosen't make you a "top ferreter" either. jealousy is a bad trait ATB Cookie Jealousy, don't make me laugh.......arrogance is even worse. My ferreting partner as a brand new feckin state of the art quad but we never feel the need to use it, kind of the same way I feel about locaters. Even funnier reply sense of humour is defo one of your strong points if I caught as little as you I would walk as well LOL ATB Cookie Tell you what bring you're efficient team down to mine we'll see what your m
