    Cheers lads, it was a good walk and it's nice to watch a team of dogs hunt together who work together regularly. Have a good christmas yourselves, and may your new years ferreting trips be bountiful and exciting!

    Havn't really been feeling very christmasy, but i don't have kids. Went over Johnnyboy68s today and it was great seeing his kids excited And i bet its suddenly a much cooler day! For me, the most important thing is the meal, and getting it all right, the best meal of the year! Apart from that, i will probably go out for a mooch with the dog somewhere i'm not meant to be christmas morning as everyone will be occupied and i'll have the world to myself

    Decided to have a day out today with Johnnyboy68, as our usual Sunday ferreting trip falls, this week, on a rather inconvinent day. Woke up and loaded the car with Finn and a jill and headed to pick up Johnny, who was on fine form Contemplating the mission that was tying his shoe laces, with a hangover. Added Gem and Luna, along with another jill to the team and headed off. Recently, instead of ferreting all day, we have been going for a good old fashioned mooch for the morning, and then ferreting in the afternoon.     Right, i love a good whippet, but would probably say that unless you really like the dog, then a WELL BRED lurcher would probably be a better option, just due to durability. However if you have the right land etc they are ace. And i would say that there are enough good ones that would wipe the floor with a lot of lurchers at daytime hunting.

    That's the thing, when i say it doesn't always go to plan. What i mean is, it doesn't always unfold like plan A was meant to. But you got to have a plan B. Plan B was simple. Spade, and mobile phone with torch on clenched between teeth . It's when you have no plan B that you're f****d. Or when your desperatly trying to scrape together plan C

    not my dogs, i was told "dont be a p*ssy there fine with em" Fairplay mate. As johnnyboy says, its understandable that you are keen, but learn from it. At the end of the day if some ones calling you a pussy cos you are reluctant to trust your good working ferret with their dubiously ferret broken dogs. . . . then they are an idiot. A good ferret is worth its weight in gold and is more important that a couple of rabbits.

    Fair play to the lad, he had been out a couple of times with Tom and blanked, not even seen a rabbit. And never seen a dog being used. SO just walking about with the dog, watching it hunt and seeing it mark, and laying nets etc expecting to actually see a rabbit, made him really chuffed. And considering he had been shown by tom to show nets only recently, he layed them well, i never even bothered to check, and the rabbit was well pursed. And he was a good lad. So happy days all round. He even took two home for stew!

    Had live lambs mauled by foxes. Worse one we had, the fox had tried to drag it through a fence and couldnt, so had resorted to trying to chew its legs off instead. Not nice at all.

    I had a call yesterday off young Tom asking if we would be out before xmas and if he could come and bring a friend. I told him it would be xmas eve, but he couldnt do that, and sounded a bit gutted, so i said we'd have a couple of hours out today. Had a funny night last night, woke up at about 2 am, with the dog going mental at the window! Looked outside and there was some c**t trying to break into the car. Half asleep, i wasnt at my most eloquent, and shouted something a long the lines of "f**k off you little c**t or i'll f*****g shoot you", but it seemed to do the trick, and he beat a ha
