    Rabbit kits do pop up all year round. But there is definatly a main breeding season in the height of the summer. I have no issue what so ever with numbers being controlled all year round, in places where they cause serious damage. However i find that usually if you hit them hard enough over winter, there are too few survivers to do much damage, however in some places this isnt the case, with rabbits constantly moving in.     We know this. We are not dumb. But not EVERY foxis a chicken killer. Plenty of lads shoot over huge swathes of arable land etc.

    I can't speak of all whippets as i have not worked one before, and don't know that many folk that do. However, i can speak of mine. My whippet Finn is just over 2 years old, he is about 21.5 / 22 inches to the shoulder and weighs about 18/19 kilos. I have now worked him for two seasons, his first at 6-12 months and his second at 18-24 months. His first season was spent learning the ferreting game, and lots and lots of day time mooching / bushing, his second season, a heavy dose of the same, and the introduction of lamping. Thats the mentality that gets me mate, folk who think foxes are vermin and all vermin must be eradicated on sight. It's like someone once said to me, a weed, is just a flower out of place.     At the end of the day, no true 'country man' would want to see them all eradicated. Controlled yes, but not wiped out. Fair do's if you are on sheep ground, on the hills, then they need controlled all year round, but for the vast swathes of arrable that folk shoot over . . . . . . for sport,. . . . . i think they should stay their hand.

    Aye, i have to say those new strong stuff lurcher collars are the biz.

    FOD - I will take a photo tomo mate, the dogs asleep lol. The collars are cracking, cant fault them at all, and you can bend over the sticky out bit and thread it back into the bit you slide the collar through, so there is no sticking out bit. Doesnt look too bulky, with the new tapered design, and its never going to break. The most impressive bit was the brass fittings, they are the toughest and most durable i have ever seem on a collar. Spot on all round.

    Chances are, if they are on the rob, no one knows where they are. Just make sure you have a mate / friendly farmer who has a few pigs, and to pull out the teeth first, to stop you sorting through pig shit. P.S - Funny that you thought the police were the 'gestapo' the other day, but were on the blower quick smart, when you had a problem. If your a bit paranoid, stick down some nail boards (just remember to lift them each morning) and a couple of those 12 bore alarms in trees.

    It's always difficult to find decent breeding hobs. As long as folk just vac the inferior, then its happy days, you dont need to be a worker to be a shagger.

    Our shoot has foot paths through the middle of it and we have had daft folk wandering into the middle of a drive, past the gun line. It's a bloody nightmare, walking about the country in bright macs seems all the rage.
