I've tried them for shorter range shooting, but to be honest ended up sticking to super domes in the springer and AA Fields in the PCP's.

I eat the Pigeons and give the rabbits to the butcher who in turn makes a £1.50 donation to the Royal Green Jackets. Works for all!

Just shows you the depth of ignorance of some. Well held on the temper front.

Best food is what they are feeding on. It's illegal to bate them down. Instead you need to find where the pigeons are feeding (at this time of year on my permissions they are hammering the late drillings or heading to the woods for berries). Set up under or near a sitty tree or feeding flight line and wait. There's a whole section dedicated to the art about three clicks away on here. They have a beginners guide for shotgunners but all the principles apply to the airgun Pigeon decoyer Patience and learning is the name of the game.

That was a brilliant read and an amazing looking rifle at that! Thanks for sharing!

You say that mate....but comparitively speaking, compared to normal, going off the number I saw, to what I actually shot I'd say there were 4 rabbits left...... Its a permission I havent been to for more than 4 mths expecting it to be alive with 3/4 and full growns and actually saw no more than 12 over the 150acres I walked, all the "hotspots" were bare..... Not good!! Darryl Had the exact same surprise on Sunday. The grass has finally been cut for silage last Wednesday and no rabbits have been taken because of the waist high grass for over 4 months. I visited all the usual haunts

I always get concerned when I see 'Brand new £55.00' and Hunting in the same sentence. When shooting live quarry, there is a moral argument to buy a tool up to the job. I saw one of these in a gun shop recently have to be honest. I wouldn't hunt with it. For a start, winter is around the corner and below 5 degree's (give or take) CO2 starts to miss-behave, as already said, which reduces power of an already mid powered gun. Secondly as a mark of respect for your target, you want a tool that can consistently dispatch quarry as long as you do your bit. Looking at the quality of the gun,

Couldn't agree more. His services are well worth the money and his his honest, open opinion can be relied upon. couldn't recommend him high enough.

Sorry to hear that. . Could chambers not get you one? it's part no. brl203. bit pricey but worth it for a classic '77! http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24571&cat=HW77 Failing that, Viagra tipped pellets could straighten things out.

The mk 1 is fine! I had one until I swapped it for my mark 2. If you have it tuned by JB, XTX, Rancid Tom et al, you'll be amazed at the difference and what it can do. Not sure I'd swap a '97 for one though. PCP's can be a hell of a lot more problematic than a springer, if you only have one gun, I'd stick with the HW 97, if you have another quality springer as a back up, I'd probably go for it!

Hi All I need something slightly 'smarter' than my surplus DPM stuff that i currently wear on the farm, for a possible new Airgun only permission/ project. I was considering buying the Jack Pyke hunter jacket and trousers in Woodland Green: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-Pyke-Woodland-Hunters-Jacket-Trousers-Suit-Set-/400197932696?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Sports_Clothing_LE&var=&hash=item5d2da7d698#ht_881wt_1037 Was wondering what any of you who use Jack Pyke stuff thought of them? Seems a reasonable price and you get what you pay for, but would it do for the winter if I laye

Lightweight pcp for lamping/ walked up shooting?
silentshot1 replied to 21dangermouse's topic in General Airgun Discussion
AA S410 TDR, light, reliable and with legendary accuracy, brilliant gun, plus 40+ shots. Bit of a Marmite situation in the looks department! -
Which rifle would you choose?
silentshot1 replied to KurtH's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Mate I wouldn't worry to much about power, as we are confined to a maximum 12ft lb's or less in the UK without an FAC. Anything 9.0ft. lb's or more will do the job out to sensible hunting ranges,, it's all about accuracy and consistency. I had an HW100 for 6 months and loved it, I have an S410 TDR and a Super10 as well, but my no. 1 gun at the mo is a BSA R-10 which I bought second hand and had tuned by XTX To be honest, not a breath in it with regard to quality/consistency/accuracy, on any of them but the R-10 has it just and on shot count.and being regged. A said accuracy -
I love the 77k. and really like it in the 97 stock, Having bought and trashed one replacement stock for my '77k, I don't think I'll replace it again, after all, it's an all weather gun, but I do like the look, .

Nice write up! I love seared pigeon with bacon, onion mushroom and sweetcorn, served in a large Yorkshire pudding. Delicious! Out tomorrow with the R-10 and decoys. Weather may be a bit showery but hey, I'll take that over a sunny day from the window of my office today!

No sub 12 ftlb air rifle is an option for foxes. -
Hi Mate There are many out there but the three I have had dealings with are Rancid Tom, XTX and JB. Who's better I don't know but I had my R-10 tuned by XTX and I am still amazed about the difference. Tom is a bloody helpful guy, has given me loads of advice and has an almost cult like following on BSAOG, John Bowkett is a legend in his own undies, he was instrumental in the development of the S-10 and various other BSA PCP's. All are about the £100 mark, you can post to all three, but for Tom's you need to send the empty buddy bottle as well. The difference in a tired, well prove

Horses for courses and different styles for different occasions! I love 'em both!

Mawders named the two best pellets in mine as well and the head size. I'd also recommend you get it tuned by A&M, XTX, JB, Rancid Tom, etc. if it hasn't had a service in a while. Great guns!

I have the same as Mawders suggests on my HW 77 with a barrel band round the under lever.
