  1. S400/410, brilliant guns, as are most air arms, or you could go for a BSA R10 Mk 1., pick it up second hand for as little as £350, gun only, then send it away to be tuned by XTX or JB or Tench or any of the other guys and away you go. Awesome looks backed with blistering accuracy, a 150 plus shot count and a warranty!
  2. hope you never need their backing then chap as i know a couple of lads that needed their assistance but got none! They were awesome when my Father died, leaving 12 Shotguns including two Winchester 5 shot semi auto's, a license that ran out 12 years prior to his death and a guy at the police station hounding my Mother after she phoned up in a panic after finding his expired certificate. They literally sorted it all for her after I called them as he had been a life long member until again, he let membership lapse. We sold the 5v shot Semi's along with five others and had his favorite pa
  3. For less than the price as a tin of AA Fields a month for full membership, I'm happy to have the cover of and to support the BASC.
  4. One text to the Land Owner to say I'll be about and I'm off out. Each to their own way, but I don't and round my area, they would have to open a seperate control room if everbody out shooting called in!
  5. In the right hands an HW77 will give anything a run for it's money, accuracy wise.
  6. Terrific footage - really enjoyed that!
  7. My figuring is that in this country we have a non FAC limit of 12 ftlbs, so neither can 'out power' the other. Nearly all reasonable airguns can out shoot the shooter for accuracy these days, especially in the '£600 + new' price range Both the Huntsman and R-10 (Mk1 or MkII) are quality guns if you get a good one and an arse if you get a pig. It all comes down to which you prefer and feels better, neither will make you a better shot by ownership alone. I've held a Huntsman and thought it was nice. I held an R-10 and thought it was awesome, even though the stock is right handed
  8. My mistake! I meant yards... I used superdomes in mine to reasonable effect. I would recommend, as with any airgun, that if possible the seller provide you with Chrony proof of power to ensure it's legal and what they claim. I have heard of some ratcatchers being as low as 7ftlbs.
  9. The old saying 'buy cheap, buy twice', stands true. You get a sub £100 gun, then you get in to it a bit more and the next thing you know, you're mate has a £150 - £250 priced springer and WOW you want it, so you sell yours for £60.00 and buy one for £200, plus £50 - £90 for a scope. You join a club and have a go on an HW or air arms spiringer and that's it, your needing one. You sell yours for £150.00 and buy one plus scope for £350. Total outlay = circa £400 in a year, not including when you decide that PCP is the only way forward. Save a bit more and buy a quality second hand springe
  10. There's a whole bunch of Ratty fans out there who do great tune ups on them. I have one in the back of the cupboard that still puts out 9.00 ftlb's after years and years of neglect. It will certainly manage barn shooting and closer ratting. I wouldn't want to use mine further than 20 - 25m but they are great for what they are.
  11. in the same boat as I am mate!! just keep learning is the only advise I've picked up!
  12. Would love a Mk. 3 stock on mine! Stunning! Congratulations.
  13. I shoot both, .177 for long range bunnies from a springer, .22 for everything else. Both do the same thing if you do your bit!
  14. Some great shooting there. I've noticed this with .177 on Woodies. Not wishing to start the torture of the "which calibre" debate, just glad someone else has noticed!
  15. Point well made mate! I bought my s/h R10 for £400. XTX tune is £ 85 + Post of £48. So to have a cracking rifle with scope I'm happy with + hopefully no need for a service for a couple of years I'm looking at £533. I don't know enough about s/h huntsman prices but I think that £533 is pretty good.
  16. Not really, especially if you've had it XTX tuned. I've sent mine off today. How much better is it from what you had before?
  17. It's not everyday you get to sit, walk around, stand, lie and in the end sulk in amazing countryside, but yesterday I got that exact opportunity!! Took the HW 77 to the farm and spent the first hour of my time there plinking and adjusting for the blustery but sunny conditions. Starting off at the top and gradually making my way down a rabbit infested hedgeline at optimum rabbiting hours, with pauses for up to 2 hours to go static and zip, nothing, nadda, nil poi, not one shot!! In fact I only saw one rabbit in the whole 5 hours, where last week there were 4 - 7 rabbits at a time ou
  18. Hi mate Try here http://www.sdcustomdesign.com/parts.htm#custom
  19. Similar happens to me! I mention in passing to the guy who runs a small syndicate on my parent in law's farm about pigeon numbers/ rabbits numbers in parts of the farm, having done all the ground work/ watching etc. A day or two later I can almost guarentee someone will have shot the area out. Solution learnt, see a productive area and if I see the guy, say hi, shoot the breeze and if he enquires, direct him to opposite side of farm!
  20. Hi Mate Great effort, you must be delighted! How's the S-16 working for you? Can't decide whether I want one or not!
  21. Honestly... Springers feel more 'part' of me and the enjoyment is greater. That said, if you need an impressive bag in front of a cull thirsty land owner, then the silenced PCP will do a far quicker job.
  22. Hi mate Absolutley the right thing! We've all done similar to those kids when young and part of the learning curve was getting caught! I wouldn't give it a second thought.
  23. Realtree everything, including car, satalite guided range finding monocular, all terrain stalking boots, Shootmore spray, yellow sun glasses, GPS, trophy camera, Daystate, massive game talk.... empty bag!! Met a few.... Good luck to them, it creates a brilliant second hand market when they jack it in for a shotgun (never them, always the gun!)
