Ratkillas being very humble here, his terrier has had a little taste already the end of last season and although we didnt let him get bit he is coming along very nicely which he should a dog bred from workers. Tarmac your terrier certainly looks promising hope he comes on well for you. I have 2 terriers to hopefully introduce this season a young Border dog out of the same lines as my old warrior. This pup was very keen to go to ground from a very early age so great care has been taken and will be taken in the coming months. The second dog is only coming up 10 months he has travell

LOL,I wouldnt worry to much Rabbithunter the message is definatly getting through and ferret welfare has come on leaps and bounds , by far the greater magority of ferret owners have a better understanding and respect for their ferrets than could be said as near as ten years ago. Just one thing it still suprises me how many young ferrets are sold that are not hand tame I know it takes time but it pisses me off to get my hands peppered by a young ferret.

After watching footage of feral pigs being hunted in NZ Aus and even in the UK and then watching footage of truewild boar being hunted in Europe it is quite obvious even to me that there is a world of difference.

Looking at the 2nd pic,it looks to me as if he is digging off the shelf IMHO I would give these lads the benefit of the doubt and say yes it could of gone to 7ft,it is hard to tell from photos.3 keen lads on a dig,who is going to stand there taking pics of the end result when there is the quarry and terrier to be tended to? :11: JMO

All depends on what your sport is had a mate who lamped in them he liked them had a mate who dug in them lasted 5 minutes lol.

and millit sorry mate but don't have pic of the finished hole but will get 1 next time and there will be a next time. Best be quick about it,only a few months of summer left :11:
-
To be quite honest i don't think they or anyone with an interest in taking them gives two fucks whether they are true wild boar or ferals. LOL there is a lot of difference.
-
If you wanted to see wild boar you would be waisting your time going to Austalia they only have feral pigs to see truely wild boar being hunted you would be able to stay a lot closer to home and just pop over to mainland Europe.

when do you start gettin your dog ready for the season ?
Kane replied to rocket ronnie's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
There is a lot of difference between reasonably fit and lamping/coursing/racing fit. -

Kane replied to rocket ronnie's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I agree with a lot of what socks is saying,I try to keep my dogs reasonably fit through the warmer months. It is difficult in these conditions.I expect some one who lamps rabbits 3 or 4 times a week through the winter would have different ideas on fitness than for a greyhound that has 3 races a week through out the year. Some lurchers are used almost like coursing greyhounds but a lot arent. -
What Ive seen of it lately mate I think we had better prepare ourselves for a dissapointment in the Rugby World Cup and the Cricket aswell. Ronaldo only did what hes paid for ,I didnt see many mancs posting about the way they cheated Spurs out of a win(Ime no spurs fan by the way) The FA dont want a manager they want a yes man no way would they let any manager replace Beckham think of the loss of sponsors.
-
[ Kane says he starts a lurcher on the real ,full grown fox which is admirable but how many lurchers has he actually started like this-2,4 or a dozen .The successful entering of a few young dogs is short lived when a young dog meets a nasty customer for the first time .Better to keep them winning . . Well its not as simple as that mate they see a lot of freshly killed ones 1st and are run with another dog at the beggining. You agree that its not the cubs that test them but a hard biting adult,IMHO when a dog gets hit hard by a fox if its going to quit it will quit it doesnt
-
Well if your hunting foxes every week of the year and are killing litters of cubs I would think 100 isnt a figure to get excited about,
-
Perhaps some of us are ameteurs and dont know what we are doing.....speaking for myself only, it would give me no satisfaction at all to see my dogs kill cubs,It makes me wonder if foxes are a bit of a novelty to you.It gives me great satisfaction to see my dogs work fit healthy agressive adult foxes it would be childs play to go out and slaughter cubs, thats why it holds no appeal for a lot of lads they prefer the long cold darker nights that test their skills aswell as the dogs.I understand the need for pest control in certain places, but killing cubs just because your bored. .IMHO.It doesnt

I wouldnt put any more breeds into her the danger of ending up with a hotch potch bitsa is to great. If it was up to me the stud would either be a 3/4 grey 1/4 bull or a 3/4grey 1/4 collie that took all quarry.

LOL LOL LOL,red filter, green filter, sky blue pink filter. Get out there in the season dark still nights forget about your realtree your filters your new digital sound electric portable caller and try and learn to walk quietly, stop fidgeting ,giggling and learn a bit of field craft use hedges etc as a back ground to cut out your siloette, dont run a couple of rabbits or a hare through boredom and then expect to call that fox across the same field he might be looking your way but he aint going to come and all your doing is educating them. Well des said it all running an 18 month old bullx bic

Individual breed traits and qualities
Kane replied to Printer's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Cross breeding might be a danger but its no more dangerous than using 2nd rate stud dogs or brood bitches, the change in law is being used as an excuse to the detriment of a lot of traditionaly game breeds using it as an excuse to forward baying lakelands and patterdales .This isnt a knock at baying dogs Patts,Borders and Lakelands traditionaly gasme dogs they should be kept that way and bayers should be kept as bayers and they should be white JMO.
