  1. You talk alot of sense and i agree with your post on the other thread aswell. All the best.
  2. My other two dont mind it but the bull/grey will only enter if its shallow or too wide to jump when running. First time he entered water though it was a frozen over pond and he was in there for abit before i managed to get him out. I think if they enter it on a positave note they dont mind but i know someone who swims them in a lock for excersise and they dont seem too happy about it.
  3. Birddog the dog in the first pic has a lovely shape to it whats its breeding please ? Atb
  4. Only got a saluki saturated dog lamp him a fair bit if i havent been able to take him out in the day does ok nothing special but its abit of fun and im sure abit of rabbiting does them good. No messing about either if he catches its brought into about 3 ft if he misses lamp of and straight back. A friend that i go out with a couple of times a month his mate has a failed dog that made a class lamper on rabbits and fox.
  5. Any dog can work with ferrets mate. Doubt it will make a ferreting dog though. Atb
  6. they need that little something to add steadiness and longevity. Yeah steadiness definitely but i dunno about longevity the bitch was killed in an accident whilst on her quarry but the other one is tough as old boots. Hes only been laid up a handful of times that i can remember and like i say has run on terrible ground and he gets abit of work. Self preservation is maybe the word for it. Maybe these fellers that know of bull crosses that can lamp 4 or 5 nights a week will be able to tell us whether there dogs have ever suffered from acidosis and how much running where they truly capable of ??

  9. Ive owned a half x and a 3/8th bred the half x is dead the 3/8th in his 5th season. Both knew how to use there nose and both were ran on terrible flinty ground and both caught a fair bit,I doubt id get another though and if i did it would have to have a drop of saluki or collie blood.
  10. Fella i know excersises his dogs with his horse went with him a few times on foot deffonatly a good way to cover a few mile.
  11. feed to well lol my lurcher pup is fussy to and will never eat brown breed for some reason and on the other hand ive a German pointer pup that will eat everything she can get and as much as she can the greedy fxxkerTo be fair mine never leave any food but had a good days rough shooting not long back gave them some carcases and like i say only the white dog ate it the rest just ignored it. Mates dog wont eat any meat at all lol ao could be worse. Atb
  12. I'd have Kranky back in a second, I liked his posts. One of the few that could take a ribbingMust admit made me laugh a few times on here he shouldnt have been deleted Imo.Why was he banned? He comes over all ard but you should have seen the pm he sent me when I was Suzy Ross Have a look on the thread about the hounds killing a pet dog another nail in the coffin i think it was called.

  14. Given my ferrets shot game almost daily. Good luck trying to get the dog to eat pheasant only one of my lot will. The rest will leave it in there bowl. Atb
  15. Looks like he could take a few knocks best of luck with him for the future. Atb
  16. I think anything if pushed hard enough will hit water. Ive seen deer and rabbits hit water been told of fox doing the same. Back in the summer pulled a young muntjac out of the canal i think canals and cars are whats keeping them under control in this area. Also seen a roe doe jump into a small pond and just sat itself half on the ice and its back legs still in the water.
  17. Off out in the morning on a place we allways see them from the roads. Not very many local though or up the road and the ones that have survived know the score and spend a fair bit of time in cover. Saying that though theres a couple of people near me who only run them on the lamp and there getting a few.
  18. Was out in the last storm f**k that for a laugh as it started getting light saw a quite a few trees drop. I wont be out tonight as ill be getting picked up in the morning with the day dog for abit of sport on some land that allways holds a few. Atb
  19. I used one similar to what you describe not long ago with the terriers i found the bolt cut into my hands far too much was very uncomfortable digging. Atb
  20. Seen a couple of dogs that are greyhound/saluki hybrids but have thrown more to they greyhound side of things make good lampers for anything you care to bump into on a night. Think that bit of saluki goes a long way.
  21. Get a better pic up if you can mate that one does it no justice at all. Best of luck with the sale
  22. Looks like it could take a knock or 2 best of luck with the sale.
