There was an article about Selous in the Shooting Times back in the 60s , once at his Birmingham Gun makers he was asked to review a Rigby Double barrelled Elephant gun , in a hurry to leave he fired it through an open window at a distant Chimney pot then wrote a quick review which said . A splendid weapon for making a large hole in the Fuzzey Wuzzeys at three hundred yards. I think Rider Haggards Alan Quartermain was based on him.

I think some of them are brilliant young dedicated kids and old hands that used to come on here , there is seldom anything of interest on here now days and i rarely post pictures but other sites are booming ,whilst i have no rabbits in my areas others have and are putting up pictures of rabbits that they in there hundreds week in week out , in my opinion the General talk section is now dominating the site and the real enthusiasts are leaving so they can connect with like minded people . I still log in mainly through habit but the core members who made this Forum have gone to pastures new wh

Pretty much the same as that but with no onion, three Bay Leaves, Tea spoon of Brown sugar , Marinade over night. When the meal is almost ready fry 20 Shallots to color them [5mins] then add to dish for a few mins to soften them.

Don't know if that is spelt right but we had it for dinner ,and we will be having it again it was very good . Over the years we have eaten Rabbit hundreds of ways but we always drifted back to our tried and tested stew or roast but we will be having this one again. 10/10 .

Over the last 50 years i have taken about a thousand rabbits a season from land in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire , and Lincolnshire, that is a rough figure as when i went lamping i had a lot more, i am lucky to be on some very big farms that have large rabbit populations i also know many little hot spots where i could go freelancing in safety, in the past i have only taken rabbits as i wanted them and if i needed a hundred i could get them this season on all that land i have caught 4 though i have been lucky to have been out with a couple of lads and catch a few more. This was once a very good hunting Forum now it is not it does not compare to Moochers which has regular posters showing hundreds of rabbits being netted or caught by dogs, the more mature folk on there do not write about Jokes, What are you listening now, gays and many more things that do not relate to hunting, some sites are very good and people participate just as it once was on here, the good ones have gone and the not so good ones are following them.

I had it for years, nothing i ever did ever done a bit of good except work, it was never as painful as Disc trouble but there was never any relief from it , to me not sleeping as the worst part.

Yes , They were excellent , back in the 50s we always went Yarmouth and Mam always sent some home , there was a lot of shops that done it and it cost 12 and six 0ld money 62 .5 pence a dozen Posted First Class. Love Bloaters we had them steamed , can you still get Red Herrings ? i have not had those since i was a kid

I like Kippers but they are very expensive and you cannot buy good ones in Leicestershire the last nice ones we had came from Whitby and were excellent.
