  1. Would a deer be able to damage a tree up to 6 ft off the ground though?
  2. It's more the reliability that's an issue I'd imagine those dishes are very susceptible to high winds. I can probably run my work on slow ADSL (I've managed with 3G in the past). Hopefully 4G will come to rural areas.
  3. Do you have Satellite broadband Paul? Depending on where we move to I might have to opt for that.
  4. Are you going to have another crack at it? It's a real shame it ended up like this after all the work you did.

Thing is foreigners learn to speak the English language properly without slang and what not.
  6. It's just THL way there's no malice in it Your best bet is to identify what pest they're likely to have a problem with, if they've got arable land they might want pigeons sorting out at certain times of the year but pigeon shooting is sort after by a lot of people and they probably get inundated by pigeon shooters depending where you live. If you're looking for pigeon you might want to wait till their hitting the crops first and then approach them. Look for evidence of large rabbit populations as well. Once you're on for one pest then you can probably shoot the other stuff. I guess it's l
  7. That's socialists for you Tax is the answer to everything
  8. I'd love to but I do need fairly reliable internet and run several computers for work and I'd be too worried about not having a reliable power supply. If I thought I could do it I would though, I looked in to it a while back. We've been planning to move to Shropshire or the Welsh boarders, it's a bit of a fantasy (read too bloody expensive) but I'd love a few acres and a bit of woodland so I could keep some live stock and have a few poly tunnels etc.
  9. We used to take loads of frozen pork out to the rig site in Algeria because the food was terrible and we couldn't get bacon or any pork products. One of the Scottish guys made a big sausage casserole and left it in the galley for the night crews to eat. I was in bed and heard a knock at the door of my cabin, when I opened it my Egyptian night guy was stood there looking really pale. I asked him what was wrong and he just said "Can you come with me please it's urgent" He led me to the galley and asked me if I would taste the casserole and tell me if there was pork in it, I said it's definitely
  10. Oh sh*t I wasn't expecting that!! Just read the thread and it was really interesting. I'd love to have some land, hopefully one day we'll get it. I wouldn't want to be off-grid though. ATB mate
