  6. Thanks for the advice, I'm a tidy lad Well I was wanting advice about how to get in contact with people at shoots to see if they need my help, it seems going to shooting clubs and clay grounds that's how you meet people, they is a clay ground about 10miles from me. So I will go there and have a few clays, while having a chat Not sure about clay grounds or shooting clubs I tried that, the rifle club was the dullest thing on earth only one of them shot live quarry and the clay ground is infested with 'all the gear' types changing chokes every five seconds and showing off their guns

Ha ha priceless thread
  10. More importantly people not spotting the signals the dog is sending way before any attack people need to learn more about dog behavior and body language before getting a powerful dog
  11. See when I was reading it and the mothers boyfriend phoned the dad to tell him, I was waiting on him going off his rocket at them. Can you imagine if your ex got a dog like that and it mauled your son? I wouldn't be giving it, all dogs need chipped that's for sure. I'd be restrained in the BarL The standards people expect from parents is too low IMO,this wasn't an accident there is someone clearly at fault. I didn't see any mention of her being investigated for neglect,or causing harm to her child through neglect. Lets just ban all dogs instead so unavoidable acts of god like this
  12. That was a fantastic read that kind of hunting sounds very exiting! I didn't read this thread till now because when I looked at the topic I thought it was going to be about some boring football tournament or something
  13. Tell you what else it might improve, my dog is about as far removed from being food motivated as you can get, it's not that he gets treats all the time either. I think he genuinely doesn't like the kibble. He will starve himself the whole day in teh hope that he might get something else mixed in to his food.
  14. Arkwrights that I use is on there too...got a freezer full of raw anyway so going to keep mixing it in with the kibble then do away with kibble for good...money will be better spent on meat! What do people do with their chicken carcasses, chopped / minced / given whole? Give them it whole as the process of eating it uses all of their teeth and cleans them. Minced raw is pretty bad as it gets stuck in the teeth. Raw meaty bones is the way to keep your dogs in good health. Not sure I'd like the idea of my dog dragging a chicken carcass around the house last time I gave him
  15. http://holisticandorganixpetshoppe.com/uk-top-worst-dry-dog-food-brands.html My Skinners duck & rice on on this list. I'm going to put my dog on a raw diet, only problem is we only have a fridge freezer at the moment so not loads of space.
  16. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise but I never thought dry food would be so bad for a dog. No doubt this program is going to be a bit of a shocker http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2546512/How-pet-food-killing-dog-feeding-parsnips-yoghurt.html
  17. I don't think the numbers seemed that bad on Anglesey from what I saw but North Wales is very good for Woodcock.
  18. I had a late start and early finish so it's a bit gutting that it's all over. Having said that I've had some great days out and some memorable experiences and that's what it's all about. Next year I'm hoping to bring my little girl along for a half day at least, she's 8 in May so she should be able to manage. I think I managed 4 or 5 days out plus a day rough shooting locally and a day on the crows and a couple of days beating so I can't really complain.
  19. My Gran was a proper East Ender loads of people kept rabbits and chickens, my dads first job as a kid was dressing chickens....imagine that today??! what the fook did they wear Chicken suits what else
  20. This was a video I watch a couple of years ago which really made me think about the balance of nature....the bit abut the rabbits and brambles amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSfz3DblmF0

  22. Is it possible or likely for dogs to get algal poisoning in January? I just heard from a friend his two dogs were working a marsh in Cheshire and they both became seriously ill whilst on the ground, one became partly paralised (tried to bite the owner) and the other started to fit! They are thinking aglae poisoning but it's winter and rainy and windy so I can't see how that is possible? Any thoughts? I think it might be some kind of poison or contamination myself. Nick
  23. there was a massive disconnect between the countryside and the towns, it must have happened back in the 1950s or so when people starting to think that life would get better and they could cast off the 'old ways'. I think that's where the class warfare comes from....read Danny the Champion of the World for example. I also have a book by Iain Niall called the Gamekeeper which documents a huge social change in attitide towards land owners and gamekeepers and that is way back just after WW1.
