had a really good bitch one time, she introduced me to the hunting world ,would have prefared her a little sharper, but what a dog to work, carried a little too much weight ,my father used to horse the feeding into her, could dig a fox out with her on her own ,just keep digging and letting her on up, marking and digging down again,,, on heavy game she trived, held an 8 pointer one night on her own till the cavalry arrived, terrific dogs,,If you get the right one..

I didn't know you were that way inclined only a woman with too much time on her hands thinks like that,,

very well said my friend and anyone who thinks a bull has no stamina is thick as shit. also if theres atleast 10% of dog men that work there dogs to there full potential of any cross i'll be shocked. get rid of the pedderls wannabe's there will be hardly no one left with working dogs fence hopper what do ya think makes a better bull x,coursing or racing grey for the first cross well, can only speak for us over here, but a lot of coursing dogs are monsters compared to track dogs, i always fancied the real thing in a cross like that,

Bull cross man, had you not a bull lurcher for sale the other week, did you get rid of him,,

Latex gloves?? Yep, my mate gave me a couple of big boxes of them at the beginning of the season. When paunching i wear a pair and stick the knife through the finger of another one. When your finished gloves off, clean hands and clean knife even the blade. Not really a necessity but bloody handy at the end of the night when your cold, tired and cant find a trough! Weigh next to nothing too keep's your hands warm as well,,eh

Told this woman, one day years ago, while out walking with the lurcher , when asked what breed it was, told her it was a, irish water whippet, who swan under water and plucked ducks out of the middle of the lake,,

What i found was when i lamped a few for a trainer to keen them up a bit,was , getting through gates and ditch's a f*****g nightmare , had to carry some over fences, no sence at all ,and screamed everything in for miles, Thats not saying if it was raised as a pup it would probably have sussed it ok, but you'd have a lot of work to do , to wise them up at that age,,that my take on it,,

Iv'e got a rescue Lurcher and i think he's great. I take him out for "mooch" we catch very little, but thats ok, as long as Ossie enjoys himself. To answer your question, in my opinion i would say yes it does. Iv'e asked questions on here, and on the whole gotten good replys, however iv'e also had the piss taken, Fair enough i'm new on here, no one knows me. So be it. Untill i got Ossie iv'e never hunted to kill, but iv'e fished for years, course fishing. I also work outside all day, so i know a little about the countryside. It does seem to be all about the amount of things caught, th

If he's in the house, stick him in one of those dog cages, and just throw in whatever you want him to chew, over a time he'll get used to chewing the same things, raw hide or whatever, the only thing is he'll have to get used to the cage first,,

What i'd like to ask is, Has anyone on this site aquired a lurcher through a dog shelter ,and if so, What do they make of the lurcher world in general, given that a lot of lads have been introduced by family or friends . Does it just look like we're a bunch of savages ,, any opinions would be welcome..

Nice dogs bud, what happened to the beddy x ? he's not in the last set of pictures,,

You've a lot of young dogs to bring on there bud, one at time is good fishing for me,, -
Some good advice there, the pup at the age needs to be able to trust you , collie whippet's can be sensitive, so think twice before any harsh correction ,take him to a few busy areas on the lead, with lots of people and dogs and noise , he,ll get used to new faces and wont bother with them,,,
-
Whats the hurry bud wait till after the jabs, safer..
-
Fine looking dog for the lamp that , your getting out and enjoying him and thats all that matters bud, a lot of lads on here would give their right arm ,to be in your position..
-
I'll second that waidmann , nearly had me in f*****g tears last night , Never knew that permission was such a big issue over there, never had permission anywhere , ever, lads just carry on over here , nobody gives a feck..best of luck..
-
You seems the be getting it right with the pup, if you can get the pup used to a routine it really settles their heads, that way they know whats coming next, and you take him out somewhere off the lead encourage him to go play, and when he chasing round , praise him, he'll learn this is his time off the lead and hopefully go hell for leather running round the place, a good cardio work out for a pup of that age is much better than a long walk,,

You have beaten down by your own society, made to feel second class for owning a lurcher and enjoying your pastime, thats the way it looks from over here,,say what ya like about the Yanks but it would not happen over there because they stand in unity. Lads on this forum end up having a go at each other ,,why , because they cant see the enemy, so they lash out at however is near..
-
I understand were all responceable for our own actions but we as lurcher owners ,seem to be running and hiding , the law would be unenforceable if lads just knew a little bit more on how they stand in the eyes of the law, its in the best interest of sites like this , to be spewing out information left, right and centre about matters concerning its members , its in there own best interest,,
-
"Any posts/ topics containing images contravening these these laws will be removed by the mods, unless shown to be despatched using the correct method ,,ie a gun,," How is that enforcable,,What does it mean, Do you need a Gun in the picture, gun licence, talk about a gun in the post, no dog in the picture..how are you meant too show its despatched correctly ,help me out here , mods,

Thats whats going to destroy this forum, its getting to a stage where lads just wont talk about their hunting and who can blame them, seems that a lot of lads are looking over their shoulder, There's only so many times you can say," Nice whippet there pal", before you get f****d off with whole thing. Part of the whole lurcher show thing, is that lads can talk about their dogs deeds in the field to other lurcher men and women, Im sure forums like this may have started with those intentions ,but with the reality of the situation , its turning into something else..
