  3. what breeds is she mate......any Saluki in her ?
  4. Well, can I put my 2 penneth in, due to this thread, Ive changed my attitude, and it works !!! what I do is split my pups meal into 2, give her lets say a chicken wing, let her be as protective over it as she wants, casually walk upto her and saying her name, get as close as you can to her, and toss the other part of her meal to her, Ive done this over the last 2 Weeks or since this thread started, and I can now take food off her, Im still swapping with the other part of the meal, but she now associates, me coming near her with yep you guessed it....more food! sorry to say but I was wrong, I t
  5. Ive often thought....what happens if the pooch puts it's leg through the 5 bar gate, and goes over...ouch, frightens the life outa me, jus started my pup jumping over a 12 inch jump then retrieve, long term when the jumps gets bigger it's a bit scarey

  8. What ya trying to bring over mate ? sounds interesting
  9. mmmm this is a problem Ive been concerned about, I posted recently asking if you could have a good daytime dog (used to hunting up using it's nose) and a lamper that doesnt hunt up the whole field if it misses, think it comes down to training, training and yep more training, If things not going well, take a step backwards and start with throwing the rabbit fur dummy, back to basics, thats what was suggested to another member atb with it, keep us upto date with your progress Craig
  10. still think 1 til fully trained, what happens when you come to take one of the 2 out for a spot of lets say re-call training, hows the other pup which is left in the kennels gonna feel, I did loads of research on this myself and I decided on 1 til training completed, then use the elder dog to help train the pup, thats my idea anyways
  11. I was in the same boat mate, having had to have my last lurcher pts, so we visited Mr Hancocks and I came out and asked him, I had my £400 at the ready and he said......JUST BUY ONE NOW AND THE OTHER IN 12 MONTHS TIME ! now surely wouldnt it have been more astute of him to have took my money and sent me on my way with 2 pups in stead of 1, he said I would nt have been able to obtain the standard of training with 2 dogs than I would with 1, so thats where I am and Im greatfull to Mr Hancock for the help and advice, hope this helps mate but atb with what ever decision you make, Craig
  12. my bitch is 14 Wks today and she 's exactly the same, dont panick, as far as I know it's all part of a puppy being a puppy, like another post said offer a food reward, sommatt he / she really likes, kneel down, and tell her "come" or "here" what ever you say you must carry on using it, the dog then gets acustomed to hearing the specific word and will know what todo, obviously make a big fuss when pup does as it's told... never call it to you for for a telling off or a slap, it'll send bad messages to the pooch and try not to loose your temper, the dog ll sense it, as Ive said this is only what
  13. really lovely dogs mate, I assume they are litter siblings ? if so hows the training going with you having 2 ? I was told it's much more difficult, I was gonna have 2 but Mr Hancock advised against, said to wait 12 -14 months beytween, thoughts appreciated, ATB with em Craig
  14. Im in the same boat as you mate, my bitch, Lexy is 14 Wks on Sunday, you'll pick some great tips up from Dave Sleight (Purdys Progress), I have, Lexys re-call, sit stay and retrieve is coming on really well. dont get me wrong...theres times when I think we ve cracked it, then things go tiss up ! all part and parce of the dog maturing, I was given some fantastic advice but by a country mile this was the best advice, given to me by Hannah, give your pup lots of cuddles and show it loads of affection, the bond you forge now will be there forever, and she'll run through walls for you when she's ol
  15. Hello Pal, I love this type, looks similar to my last bitch (one in addy) she was Deerhound x Greyhound, nice to be given her mate....whats her story
  16. Stunning !!! what they bred off mate ?
  17. She loves it mate, was just a bit concerned that she ran a mile when she saw the rabbit with it's coat on, nipped to the butchers yesterday and he gave me loads, cow lungs, chicken carcus, meaty bones, and liver and kidney, loves the BARF diet, lioke I said the first seight of the rabbit and she was off, hopefully just her age, oh just a quick thought......if I feed her them whole, with the fur, head an all, when she catchers.......will she attempt to eat it ?
  18. Nice to see your making friends again Glass
  19. Hi SPH, did that, let her have a munch on the kidney, she was fine with it without the fur on, not happy with it on at all, not fed her any as Im leaving in the freezer to eliminate any worms, how long do you suggest to make sure all cysts are dead ?
  20. Doesnt Dave Sleight breed kelpie x's isnt Purdy from the dvd a Kelpie x ? Think so
  21. Hi SPH, thanks for your brilliant advice, du think this is normal behaviour then for a 13 Wk old pup ?, I did exactly what you suggested, Ive gutted, skinned and cut into usual pieces, and popped it all into the freezer so to kill off any worm cyst's, Im just a lil bit ott with her as I want her to have the best chance.
  22. He's lovely, whats he got in him ? what camera you used ? were where piccys taken looks beautiful ? sorry for all questions lol jus interested atb Craig
