  2. Hi Storm, thanks for your interest, I will do ...when I learn how to upload piccys that is ! finding the re-sizing an issue at mo, she's a lil cracker, as Ive stated on another post she is primarrilly a pet, but will have many hours hunting with me, like me and me last gal did, died recently after 14 great Years, totally gutted but feeling bit better now down to time I think, they say times a great healer, and it is
  3. Hi, Lass im totally with you, the reason we went to Hancock is Lisa my wife wanted a certain dog, collie x which would be fawn colour and broken coated, I did get the number for 2 other very respected breeders, only to be told that they were inbetween or geographically such a long way from me in Nottingham, bare in mind my last bitch which as stated I had for 14 Yrs was from the dog pound, and with love and care, she pulled out all the stops for me....saying that Im sure to some of you experienced lurcher people, she'd probably not even make your kennels but to me...the togetherness of me and
  4. I nave Tomo but knowing what Im like I'll end up with two pets, know that most of you hardened dog men will call me a sissy, soft lad etc but I couldnt treat the two dogs differently, I suppose Ill just take me chances and like I always have not take any chances, do you think that given the choice the dog would want to work than lie there stretched out on the sofa ?
  5. Dont get me wrong, Lora my last dog was as fit as a fiddle and worked 2 - 3 times a week and went out for a good run twice a day, this dog will be fit to run, just after loosing the last dog shattered me, very emotionally attached, and your right I think Im probably worrying about somatt that wont happen.....but does it happen often ?
  6. Hello Ive not been out with a dog for some time as my old girl recently died at ther age of 14, and for some time previous was to old to work, my situation is different from the vast amount of lads and lasses on here as my dog is firstly a family pet and secondly a worker, my issue/concern is that I am frightened to death at the prospect of taking the dog out and her hitting something or falling and dieing whilst out doing what she loves doing, how often do lurchers die whilst out working them ? is it possible to have A) a working dog and a family pet all rolled into one, cos if this ever hap
  7. Great advice, thanks fella's your quite right the word I was looking for is allrounder ! du think this cross should have a good nose ? gonna put alot of time into the initial training, retrieving is a must for me as I dont want to be chasing a dog across a field to depatch it's quarry, Im hoping that the breeding of it will make it eager and quick to learn....think the phrase is biddable !
  8. I agree think you deserve a pat on the back, you ve done a fantastic job mate, I'd like to think if my dog went missing someone like you would find her, I think we all should take a leaf out of your book, oh by the way you find the owners yet mate ?
  9. Thanks for your advice fella's, she's bred from Flicker, which is a big blue GH dam and John Dog which I think is 3/4 beardie and 1/4 gh Sire Im really looking forward to starting training her as Ive heard they are so eager to learn, as I said my first lurcher was a fluke never intended to hunt with dogs til we got her from the PDSA, then got hooked, after the first lurcher wouldnt want any other dog, I'll be on here often asking advice from all you experienced lurcher men....and women, thanks Craig
  10. Is this a silly question or are you all being bashfull and shy ?
  11. Hello, Im awaiting the arrival of my Hancock pup (Nxt Sunday) Im interested to know your thoughts, is it possible to have a dog which will bush and hunt up using it's nose in the day, and lamp at night, tell you why, our last lurcher who recently died (14Yrs) we got from an animal centre, and got her at about a Yr old, anyway she was a pet but I did a bit with her, she was mustard at hunting up, and quite good on the lamp, but the problem with her was if she missed on the lamp, she'd switch to her day time instinct to hunt up, she'd always come back after putting everything to ground in the fi
  12. Riohog have you ever thought that I may not have been able to see the posts as I was at work last night, but fair enough, I ll leave it there !
  13. Well if it's been removed I'd like to know why...Im not teaching people to make fertilizer bombs !!! I was merely asking other people opinions and attitudes towards the said subject......which I thought a forum was ment for, this is why things go underground !!! Craig
  14. Where's the topic I started re poaching ??? has it been removed and if so may I ask why ? Cheers Craig
  15. Yer know whats realy nice to see, ex workers which have been retired yet still got loving homes, I know that it's not always practical with kennel space being at a premium, but it's nice to give our 4 legged partners something back after the loyalty and hard work theyve given to us !!!
  16. Nice one matey, just a quickie.....you dont like Duck ?
  17. After loosing my bitch, several Weeks ago I too have opted for collie cross this time, Lora was a Deerhound/Ghound/Beddy and she was a great alround dog, my pup is off Flick a large blue ex racing Ghound (dam) and John Dog a large beardie collie (Sire), I specifically wanted a rough coated bitch, how this dog performs is not everything to me as it's prodominantly a pet for the family, but I do like doing a bit with them, mooching, Lamping which also imho keeps the dogs happy, a fit dog is a happy dog, cant wait to start training her, what is your puppies sire and dam mate ?
  18. Probably fit as a butchers dog mate, good strong healthy rabbits matey, better than picking a shed load of mixid rabbits, also real test for the dog, every kill, is a work of art !
  19. I really like these......just had my ghound/deerhound/beddy put down 15 Yrs with her, missus wants a broken coated tho
  20. Size ? Breeding ? etc ???
