    A average dog will catch plenty,If it wants too Rightly or wrongly a dog effects my mood,If you put time and effort into a dog only for it to fail when it shouldn't again and again,It can make you . As some one said only you know when you have done all you can do.Then just make sure you do right by the dog....

    Half a dozen members who contributed to this sub forum !! I suppose the 20,000 who come on and say "nice dog mate" are invaluable members are they, the majority are just sychophantic tossers.     Forgeting the 50000 members or what ever,How many active members are there 1000-2000Tops. Go to the members section you will find alot more that joined and never posted nowt,probally never came on again. just a observation.

    Just put the number and dogs name on calander.Any ferreted are put down to ferrets even if dog catches it.Any shot this time of year dont count. Find it handy to keep track how many nights a dogs running a week or when a certain dog needs a run.

    So why make it harder by banning stuff that work. Its like me banning myself from ferreting and lamping(or buying a coliex) Then wondering around catching nothing all winter. Blaming every thing from poleish,legal netters,illeagle netters,Lads pretending to be fishing for trout while emptying the river of salmon blah blah. Looks a bit mad to me..

    Out today on a big river,my little 30 quid rod size12 hooks a few worms and a lurcher.Lovley spot nice walk. Ruined though by the salmon men,Every one wanting to see my permit,Checking i wasnt using prawns,phone calls to the club officals, me using worms would mean me catching the salmon. . The lads spend there whole summer there without catching one,As one lad moves out of a swim the next lad moves into it Why ban the things that work, i asked why they banned prawns" becouse there to good at catching them" So you ban things that catch salmon then spend all day every day spinning in hope

    When ferreting often find the bucks are first to bolt. Stalking rabbits with rifle its often the does sat out long enough for you to get of a shot. From what i gather a dog and vixen in a earth dog will often bolt first. Males only have one purpose thats to stay alive long enough to spread there genes,as a rule they stay out of dodge.thats my take on it.

    Nice bitch,Had a bitch at about 2 just like her best quid i ever spent. Its nice to take on a older dog,It seems almost easier to except them for what they are,and very rewarding to see them blossoming. Go for it and enjoy it.

    Ive broke a couple of older dogs,like yours bite first ask questions later types,Take your time. Wouldn't be using the bowl method if i were you just yet, could end in :cray:Jmo . As said just let the dog be around while you handle it, Don't be holding out ferret so dog can sniff,its a invite of "oh i can have that" Hold it possessively in your arms,Like a baby ,So dog can sniff but cannot bite. I put my ferrets on a harness and dog on lead.Worked for mine.Some one Else holding ferret.Slowly let them walk closer and closer. Worked for me any way.

    After a bit of rain during sat night i went out yesterday morning,Nice bit if colour but river very low,Found a pool,with fast water running into it,First cast in ,a bite . Fell of half way in . Got another 4-5 bites using a bubble and worm,I was waiting till bubble went right under and was being pulled along missed every one using size 14 hooks to small or am i just sh*t. Some one asked swears by minnows
