  1. Slip always for me,could control them on rabbits but dont just meet rabbits. Plus and this is just my mind,I see a rabbit,I choose to run it, i slip dog runs,A dog that will wait till being told to run must be close to saying oh that ones close to the hedge im not running that one?
  2. Ive had some good maybe better than that, hunting lurchers and the amount of game they find is amazing. At the moment i dont have one , they will hunt a hot scent but thats it. When youve had dogs that will go off and find stuff it can be frustrating to take other dogs to the same place knowing whats there if they go and look, only to find them sniffing around 10ft away. A dog that will go and find stuff will make a quite mooch into a hunt, will keep its self and other dogs fit. Some will do it others wont in my experience.
  3. Had a dog that hated electric fences,Even if it was one strand right on top of posts a small horse could run under,She would sometimes decide it was going to get her,and run along the fence, when she could have gone under with 2 ft to spare and caught the poxy rabbit, that could be annoying .
  4. I don't agree with driving fields without permission personally but agree with a lot of the rest.
  5. Haven't seen a good lurcher book for a good while,Not into this formula of writing books by interviewing people. Mouchers tale was a good read,A lad with a story to tell,Baring that find myself reading more by big game hunters, again lads that have storys to tell. Untill i see a book like these i would rather stick the 20-30 quid in petrol tank and get out with my own dogs.
  6. Go to a horse tack shop get some CRIBOX, were gloves to smear it on,Its messy and you will be spitting for a day if it gets in your mouth lol.You can get it in spray less messy but you need to respray often. Breeze block is the way to go.
  7. bred a bitch at 8 first litter,no problems,She was out doing road work up untill a week to go.
  8. deban do canvas bags last for ever, double is plenty big for 1 ferret, triple is a bit big.
  9. Used to use a bag with a single ferret, when mooching with the dog,Used to do a few miles never hurt the ferret just have to be half careful.
  10. Well i like hes posts as much as the next did long before it became cool. At the same time if there's a series of shots and the last one is of the dog carrying her catch in a totally different place, some ones going to comment arnt they?Rightly or wrongly. Dont shot the messenger
  11. The question was is decoying legal? the answer is YES. nrgc have taken cases to court and won about shooting on stubble,Last i saw they were advising there members they could shoot on them.Up to individual to decide if its worth hassle. Using electric callers is illegal in uk too isnt it,there for photograpy only?
  12. You dont know untill you try though, dosnt the op train mink to hunt with him, who~d of thought that.
  13. Still plenty of coursing blood around, even before ban irish dogs were popular, there still coursing over there.
  14. Might my self, but maybe when i slow up a bit, gotta be better than a whippet
  15. Always fancied bringing on a greyhound pup as a lurcher myself,Doubt there as stupid as you think if they've had the chance from a pup. There again i aint done it yet so...
  16. Quite like them myself but the price tag is crazy. Some of the ground round here is rough, wonder if they would be bringing lurchers back away from stuff that had a bit of a lead?
  17. Just wrote this reply and then it wouldnt let me reply....lol Yes your right on all accounts.. Im sure plenty would like to see it deleted I came on here and answered questions that were put to me,Ignored all the personal insults,Word twisting, pointed out a few facts that weren't facts! So why shouldnt i come on and expect the same. But yes your right if people didnt take it all so personaly you might get more genuine hunters posting.
  18. Fed my animal twice now, will some one please come back and tell me if its a dog or not?
  19. Yes there right it does happen a lad done a 100 few seasons ago,he went a long way and it didnt sound fun,Others have done it with 2 or 3 dogs let you decide how big a deal that is. Yes your right, somehow doubt many a dog is out running and catching that many then going out the next night, let alone running that many again. But this is internet everything exaggerated .
  20. Once more for the idiot in the room I HAVE NEVER MENTIONED FOX HOUNDS ... Hopefully that has finally sunk in !!! You do what you want fella ... You seem to have all the answers and knowledge you need it doesn't make a fukcs bit of difference to me what you do with your dogs and how hungry or full they are when you take them out ......... Did you say A hungry dog has its mind on food not on the job and has less energy for the job in hand Is a hound a dog? Will my dog stop chasing if i throw food in front of it?( its not collie)
  21. Oh i get you know yes, a hungry fox hound does have its mind on the job a hungry lurcher dosnt. Now it all makes sense... You did say dog? a hound is a dog am i right so far? Presuming my lurcher is a dog next time she takes of after somthing i dont want her to chase will she stop if a throw a cheese sandwich at her head?
  22. Mods will you please move this thread to the hound section,All over the country hunts find hounds rioting on foxs,Next thing you know fox and hounds are heading towards busy roads, train tracks ect ect.Hunt staff, foot followers, car followers frantically trying to stop them ,all they have to do is throw down a cheese sandwich job done
