    Every rabbit in a net pup sees it thinks its caught,Confidance,the rest is easy learnt..

    Had 2 pups on my self,I liked it something i would do again,they loved one another but still loved me more, without being too needy.

    The only good experience for a young dog is to catch a rabbit quick and go home,Anything else is a bad experience the way i see it.

    Had a good night,Rabbits a bit more spread out than they have been lately,A good thing dog can get a breather between runs and enjoy it.

    Trouble with these young lads.. they cant keep up with us old boys. . I took my mates son out the other day...I ended up doing more graft than I normally do.. He,s a big strong lad twice my size and weight.... that was his excuse when I was sat waiting for him at the top of the hill. As for what time do I start....tommorow is a 4am alarm and a 5am set off.... plenty of time for sleep when we're dead.,,lol Most important thing for me is finding some one who can keep hes mouth shut about were hes been and seen,thats rare in a old lad must be very rare with the fb generation?

    I would have him on one meal a day,Hate fussy eaters. Like some one above had a dog you could put down steak and he would sniff it and walk away,Pain in ass. That was my first pup and i went with every one telling me i had to feed it 4 or 5 times aday., Nice pup

    Ferreting some of the thick hedges i do on my own can feel like work at times lol,Need to find a keen young lad.

    I have there light fantastic,Use it more as a torch than lamp,Dropped it in a water storage tank while up in the attic,my hands were full at time so was a while getting it out,the whole thing was full of water still never went out,they make stuff well.

    I Just like early mornings,have nets out by 8,Every now and then you can be ferreting away and have a fox wonder into you on its way home,thats the kind of thing i remember. Be finished by 1-2 Still have a bit of daylight to do anything else that has to be done. Last 3 mornings finished up with 13 is that wierd

    What about hunting, grabbing and retrieving feather? Retrieving shot feather wether with gun or catapult? Jumping? Having a good temperament? I thought the lurcher was the animal of choice for the poacher? Not just a means of "taking 4 legged quarry".

    I've been way above the aircraft many times but im that blind id never see a pilot waving lol..and them guys are the ultimate hunters mate, I couldn't live with them..if you ever get chance have a read of the History of the Coniston Foxhounds..all the stories are write ups of their hunts and excerpts from the local papers..amazing feats they got up to and the distances they covered..long before cars etc as the book reverts to hunts starting in 1825..good reading it is.. lol yes machines to walk,by the time your up first there down other side and up the next Will have a read of that chee

    For windproof and waterproof,look at swedteam wildfowling jacket,Price of it you wouldnt be wearing it ferreting but up there just the job,water runs of like a duck And yes few times ive climbed a few rocks for better view or rest then relised its too windy to stand up to get down

    Like being up the hills on days like that,Hope your better prepared than me though a tshirt and jacket is grand on the way up but you freeze on the top and back down.

    Someone mentioned that to me before actually, its for horses? Has anyone used it for dogs and to what effect? Use it when ever i have a pup,stops the habbit before it starts,use it on the bushs and stuff in the garden when they start eating them too,pups normally go back for a second try but not a third.

    lol If the ferrets had as much a hard time persuading the rabbits out,as i do persuading mrs to put out i would have given up years ago.

    So we all agree All the decent dogs ive had have had natural speed,Having it fills a young dog with confidence,Young dogs that lack it soon start to loose confidence. Also agree with guns if you want your lurcher to work with them good for you but it aint a lurchers job. Ferreting dogs are very useful its great to see one that really knows the score,But ferreting for dogs is a bit like sex,You get a decent work out but it aint hard work,especially when your using nets. lol.

    First thing i do if i have to go to a party like that is find out what farmers are there,then wait till they have some wine on board. Cant think of one that hasn't give me permission yet.
