  1. That looks great, really fresh! What did you make with it all?
  2. I dug up my potatoes over this past few weeks and was disappointed with this years' crop. They just didn't seem to thrive this year and some of them seemed blighty. Maybe my soil is contaminated now and i'll have to try growing something else next year? On another note, I bought some rose bushes and planted them where I dug the potatoes up from, they are a nice splash of colour and scent in the garden. Does anyone grow flowers as well as veg?
  3. Nobodies defending him mate,i dont know about what he,s done before but on this case alone i do feel a little sorry for the man,we have all been in situations where we are close to totally losing it for any number of reasons, thankfully 99% of us can think it through and have the mental strength to rationalise, this was clearly a weak and unstable man who tragically acted on impulse.Yes he got what he deserved as you have to pay the price for your actions. But i could never compare this mans crimes to the revolting sicko shit you here and read about every day that doesnt get anywhere near the att
  4. That's a real shame. I hope you will be able to salvage your fruit & veg after the work you put in. Good luck.
  5. looking good! I have those greenhouses as well - they are handy. I am growing 'tumbling tom' cherry tomatoes this year again. They were a bit slow to start but coming on now. Last year I was still eating them in late October!
  6. It's nice to hear good news. Good luck!
  7. how far back should it be cut mate?and will it not be painful each time it starts to grow and have to be cut again, continually repeating the process with the pottasium,or just far enough to keep it off the pad, thankyou for your advice It's going to hurt the dog when you first cut it mate, especally if you cut the quick. If you just trim the nail without cutting the quick it won't hurt the dog although you will have to keep cutting it on a regular basis. If you do cut the nail right back, apply the potassium and leave it. Keep an eye on the nail and just trim the end once a fortnight, ke
  8. I have a 4 month old pup. It spends its time playing around the garden, walking for 5-10 minutes on the lead once or twice daily and working on obedience. I would be afraid of it damaging its growing bones and joints by asking it to do too much physical stuff.
  9. i judge at shows mate and take that as abit of an insult, i judge so the standard of working terriers is kept at a very good one, i suppose some people see it as fun and i dont personaly exibit my own dogs. but to the people who breed off the dogs and put the time and effort into working them and keeping them in top condition all year round its abit more than just abit of fun. atb And by it being more than just a bit of fun wich imho thats all it should be we have over the years now seen people whos only aim for the lurcher is for it to win a rosset or trophys or to my suprise [bANNED TEXT]
  10. I was talking of the people who, said if a dog goes up to another on the lead, its the dog that goes up to its fault if something happens, which is true to an extent, however if you have a dog that cannot be trusted with others it would be best to keep away from areas with off lead dogs. Each owner is responsible for the behaviour of their own dog, if you can predict what might happen you should minimise that risk and wandering about with a poorly socialised dog in an area with off lead dogs seems daft to me. Not that I have to worry as my dog does neither. Although she has been chased by a co
  11. Why do people take these shows so seriously?
  12. Looking good. Tell us a bit about them.
  13. Sounds like he was a right arse! Hope his boat springs a leak
  14. I think it is impossible to KNOW how a strange dog will act. Dog scraps can kick off in an instant with devastating consequences. I beleive it is a case of behaving responsibly, especially in a public space.
  15. If her on lead dog GSD had tore your off lead Maggie to pieces how would you have felt? In public places I really do think dogs should be kept under close control. I have been on the receiving end of people with out of control dogs and it ain't good. How would you have felt if the GSD owner was a large hairy bloke - would it still be fair to ridicle?
  16. I did tumbling toms last year too. I thought they were good and required little care. I was still eating them in november. I am doing them again this year.
  17. How did your litter of borders turn out?
  18. Parsley - tell us more about these ones.
  19. I believe that the work/training put into a pup from young means a great deal. Some of the posts relating to breeding proven worker to worker are really making a lot of sense here.
  20. Brilliant photos. So have you given them a box to live in? Will they stay there now and provide you with honey?
  21. my mate kennells his wheaton x with a saluki x them to bitches have only known each other for a month and they are good as gold it to do with how you bring them up ! :L That could be a bit of a naive statement. The dogs have only been in together for one month..........
  22. Was it running loose or with someone?
  23. Does anyone else find it more harmonious to keep a dog and a bitch together? I have one of each and they seem to do ok. The bitch is the boss and the dog seems very accepting of this.
