I can't claim to speak from experience here but from all I've learned on this forum you must be stark staring mad even to consider the idea. The 22.250 is probably the ultimate 22 centrefire fox round. The .204 is a dodgy little lightweight boy's toy. If you really want to go for a serious fox round apply for a condition for a .243. Bear in mind that the 204 was developed as a "varmint" round. It kills little skinny groundhogs and squirrels and rats but it is neither use nor ornament for shooting anything with a body more than about 1cm thick

I can't thank you enough for that song. Gracie Slick had THE MOST AMAZING VOICE. As I said above, I heard her with Jefferson Airplane on the Isle of Wight. Heard her with Rocketship, Starship. Her voice strips the skin off your back. Some thieving fkr nicked my copy of White Rabbit (after a night which may have involved dodgy substances . . .) so you have replaced a small but significant memory for me. Steph Truth to tell, I don't know. The Independent recently ran a series on bumblebees, and said that there are a few colonies of Violets in the south of England which could be self-sustaining, but they look so scarey that people tend to swat first and think later. I just want to meet one! I can send bumblebees to sleep on the back of my hand and I'd love to try that with a big furry purple swarm. . . . Ric

That's the whole point. The punt gun that I fired didn't have a buttstock, to hold into your shoulder. It had two ringbolts that were used to tie the gun to the prow of the boat. When the gun fired, the whole boat recoiled about 6-8 feet through the water. I know you're all laffing at me here, but this dam' thing was about 1 1/2" calibre. Muzzle loaded, black powder, flintlock. You didn't squeeze the trigger, you pulled the lanyard. Ric

i agree mate.you get them every where in life They don't only have an empty profile. They have empty brains. I have only recently joined this forum. I've made a dam' fool of myself a couple of times but I have learned from my mistakes and I don't make the same mistake twice. By the way it takes a LOT OF GUTS to start a fight on a forum. NOT.

Somebody's got to be joking here? A punt gun is a a bloody great big shotgun, mounted on a PUNT! They are usually 4-bore, but some are 2-bore. Got that? The big yins fire half a pound of shot at one go? Except that they fire smaller shot so they fire like about a pound at a time? Black powder, muzzle loaders and THEY KILL A LOT OF DUCKS AT A TIME. They are mounted on boats cos nothing else can cope with the recoil. We are not not talking small arms here, they are more like artillery. Fired one once. Scared the living bejazus out of me. Ric

NOT if you have 4 magas as i do when rabbit shooting, i also have 2 x 10 shots that i tape together so when one was out flip it round and away you go with 10 more, granted the 10 shot ones are a pain and i find they stick a lot (jamm up ) so best using 5 shot if you can get a few extra mags. my mate has a semi auto ruger, i think he uses far to much ammo as he gets over exited if he misses a bunny LOL i tend to walk on his left side when shooting if not you tend to get clobbered with emptys

Sadly, no. This might work with honey bees but bumble bees have a different mating pattern. Rather than starting a new colony immediately the fertilized queen hibernates through the winter and only starts a new nest the following spring. Having re-read Steph's posts, I think that what she needs for her research are dead nests, not dead bees. That is, nests which have been abandoned because the founding queen has died of mere old age, and her offspring have spread to start their own nests. Bumble bee nests are only occupied for one year, while honey bee nests/hives can last for many years. Just

It's obvious the lass is cool. I am at Sussex University which has just started the first B.Sc in bee-keeping! So I'm gonna get off the thread a bit . . .Has anyone seen a Violet Bumblebee? Apparently they are nigh on 2 inches long, look really mean and don't have stings! I want one! On a lead! Can you imagine walking into a pub with a 2 inch long beedlebum on your shoulder? You'ld get served pronto methinks . .

I know zilch about any particular scopes but if you want a low-light scope for a rimmy get a half tidy 6x42. Enough mag to bring your quarry in range and enough light gathering power to let you see it! Mind you, Kahles do an 8x56. . . 'Kin awesome. 'Kin awesome price tho . . .
