Can't vouch for it, but I read on another site that 10% more foxes are being killed by hunters since the ban on HWH. In my home county of Leicestershire it used to be damn near impossible to get fox on a rifle ticket. The Chief Constable rode with the Quorn. That said, far more are killed on the roads, as said above. Ric

With those rights go responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is not causing unnecessary suffering to animals. That overrides the right to dispose of ones property as one wishes. It's the owner not the dog! When my daughter was about 4 years old, we were walking along the towpath next the cut. There was an Asian guy walking towards us. He had a big GSD, long black hair, mean looking dog, on his left side. On his right he had a bloody great Rottie, both off the lead. As we got closer I heard him say "Heel!" All .22lr subsonic ammo is is hollow point plain lead - ie "expanding". Ammo for .22lr is simply not a question. The same rounds are used for field and target. As for club/target use with other calibres, you can legally use expanding ammo BUT most clubs insist on factory FMJ for competition so that every shooter is on equal terms. If you get your FAC for field use that includes range shooting for zeroing, for which you can use field ammo. Ric

I gather that you are pacing out your range? Don't trust that too far. 75 yards in daylight over a flat field can feel very different from 75 yards at night over rough ground. Borrow a laser rangefinder. Ric

Seaford Town Council, which runs the local golf course, has been employing qualified keepers to use shotguns to cull rabbits which have been wrecking greens and fairways on the golf course. Local hunny buggers are going spare. I have written to the rag to complain. Why not employ a guy with a .22lr? That way the bunnies would be edible. Don't it get on yer tits? Local "wildlife expert" says build a rabbit proof fence all round the course. Ric
