The last thing I want to have happen here is a falling out between Firepower and me. We're on the same side FFS! But look at what happened after Dunblane. The Government were not planning to ban private ownership of handguns, but there was a massive public outcry. Fuelled by ignorance? Yup. Fired up by the red-tops? Bet yer ass. My point here is that we should keep schtum for a while. The government has bigger issues to worry about but if we start kicking up now we risk getting the wrong publicity at the wrong time. For what it's worth, there was a guy looked like him but clean shaven at the travellers camp outside Brighton last year. This guy had the eye-in-the-pyramid tat under his Adam's apple. Scared the sh*t out of me just looking at him. I didn't know the crack then but I'll be on the look-out for him when the camp gets filling up again. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that she could keep her gun in your cabinet PROVIDED only you have the keys, and only you know where the keys are kept. Even if she got an FAC she could not access your cabinet. That means she could only access her gun in your presence. Not a domestic scenario I'd relish meself but heyy! Whatever turns you on. More to the point, subject to the OK from your FEO, it should be legal to chain her gun to your cab. Then only she can hold keys to the padlock on the chain. Ric

Thing is, they are all Brits. Wiggins has a great support team and this year he's going for the yellow jersey. I'm not a betting man but I have a tenner on Brad for a podium. He's only 26 FFS and bikers don't peak til their 30s! Johnnyboy - the Tour de France is the most gruelling sports event of all. I used to be good at time trials but those mountains? I know most of yous blokes don't follow cycling but this guy deserves our cheers. Bradley Wiggins blew all the continental cyclists away on the track in the Beijing Olympics. Then in the Tour last year he picked up more results than any Brit ever. He was 4th overall, equal to the best result by any Brit, and took more stage wins than every other Brit put together. That was just a trial run. He is now with an all British team, all British riders. Contador, current champ, and Lance Armstrong, 7 times winner, both rate him for a podium place. There are a lot of shoots in Scotland where although .243 is legal for Red/Sika they will not allow guest shooters to use this calibre. They prefer to have people using, say, 6.5 x 55. The extra knock-down capability of the heavier calibre compensates for the possible off aim shot. Ric.

Bit off topic, but I was on a narrow-boat holiday when I dropped the lock key in the cut. Only one we had and it took me 5 dives to find it. It really focusses your mind when the skipper says "If you don't find it this time stay down there til you do." Of course he had a spare but he didn't tell me. Canal water don't half pong! Ric

First let me say that I mention English girls only because I don't know many Scots, Welsh, or Irish gals. I'm at Sussex University and I am surrounded by beautiful lassies. Even 10 years ago young girls looked like slobs. They slouched along, walking on the sides of their feet and dressed like Ena Sharples. Now! They carry themselves like dancers, they walk like they are on cloud 9 and they dress to make the best of their looks. They are self-confident, happy in themselves, friendly but they won't take any shit. I used to rate French gals but not now! Our home-grown girls are wonderful!

Sam - Why not buy say 50 rounds of factory ammo? Use 20 to shoot your barrel in. 20 to zero your sights, 10 in the field. Then you will have 50 cases fire-formed to your gun and a benchmark to load to. Ric

Just to add, DON'T specify capacity. If your ticket reads,say, "5 round magazine" you will not be legal for 8-round. Just put "long magazine". Ric
