  1. I found a wallet with about a ton in notes, and plastic. The name and address were in there. The address was a little 2 up 2 down terraced cottage. Not talking wealthy folk. I took it round, the pensioner who owned it was well chuffed. He insisted on giving me a tenner. If the address had been in a posh part of town I'd have trousered the notes, wrapped up the wallet and posted it back. You don't thieve off your own kind.
  2. The first guy, the one who kicked the shop owners head in? Should have been banged up for 10. Clip the guy maybe, but lay into him? When he's down anyway? What a fucken hero. The guy who had a go at the junky? 'Kin A. Been there, done that. Got the scars to prove it. Your case? Should never have gone to court. My day, the lads out the back were left to get on with it unless some silly born bastrad pulled a shiv. Seems to me that there is a real problem because the standards vary all over the gaff. Isn't "British Justice" supposed to apply equally to all? Ho-Ho.
  3. I phrased a comment about abattoirs badly, and Scothunter picked me up on it. I don't think there is disagreement between NicB and myself over "cruelty".
  4. Fair dos. Most are OK but the bad ones can be very bad.
  5. They could abolish the HWH Act by Fiat of Parliament.
  6. Good post Les. I don't agree with all you say, but it needs saying. When we get some cretin yapping about shooting rabbits at 250 yards with a .22lr we can all just treat him with the contempt he deserves. The antis, some of whom do know about guns, can twist his words into a general claim by all shooters. I do not agree with Nik that shooting, or any other hunting method, must needs be cruel. Unless you're a real weird cnut, you surely try to kill with as little cruelty as possible? Clean head-shot or boiler-room fragmenting round is the ideal we all go for, do we not? Game bird shooters
  7. I don't like cats but a little pussy turns me on.
  8. Thee and tha mam in law
  9. Is there a formal term for being terrified of your Mother-in-law? Whether or no, that's mine.
  10. Fear of heights - Acrophobia Fear of cats - Ailurophobia Fear of the number 13 - Tridekaphobia.
  11. I have to say that my reaction was why not build a custom for that sort of money. Good custom stock, Remi 700 action blueprinted from new, Jewell trigger, Border barrel. Get the twist rate to suit your favoured bullets. That's my long-term game plan with a .204. Dedicated fox gun. Whatever, ATB Ric.

    Ouch!!!!!!!!

Roe 1. Hunter 0. Sorry! Don't try to hurry things. When a bone heals, it's healed. A tendon can stay vulnerable for a lot longer. And just to cheer you up even more, the physio hurts like f**k. Seriously bro, all the best. Really, don't try to rush it.
  13. Dipshits like him give all hunters a bad name. What a numbty. Using a loaded gun as a priest. Too tight to use a second round. And still can't even do the job right. Idjit.
  14. Get the f**k out of there you thieving little ratbag. Come on chap, the dog picks its own name. I once had a pedigree terrier called Golden Sixpence the Third. His name was Oscar 'cos he was Wild. . . .
  15. Actually, the 17 grain is a frangible round, but the 20 grain is a "controlled expansion" round, and is far less prone to breaking up at the slightest hint of hitting anything. The lack of ricochet is over stated IMHO, the 17 DOES ricochet, and so you shouldn't be taking shots where a ricochet is likely to cause a problem. This is the same for any rifle IMHO. I wouldn't take a shot with the .17 that I wouldn't take with the .22 because of the ricochet danger, so the supposed gain just isn't there. As always, that's just my opinion. Matt, personally I agree, but I was giving a widely
  16. If you shoot and wound a ring-necked parakeet, and humanely dispatch it by the usual method, does it become a wrung-necked parakeet? Ric
  17. As said by all, but note that although HMR is 0.17" calibre it is much more powerful than the .22lr. Also, the two rounds available are designed to fragment on impact, which again reduces the risk of the mad Irish bouncer Rick O'Shay. (No offence to our Hibernian comrades!)
  18. Ring-neck parakeets are listed as a pest species on General Licence. If they are invading nests of native species, destroying food supplies,or threatening crops, they can be shot or otherwise killed by any humane method. Their feathers make great fishing flies . . .
  19. It may cost a bit of MV. It may lose a bit of accuracy. You won't see any practical difference in the field. On the range yes, but 1MOA is all you need for a head shot. Edited to add, Rimfire Magic supply a 12.5" carbon fibre barrel! Remember that 12"/30 cm is the legal minimum so leave a bit over for a re-crown if mecessary.
  20. Thanks, that's the reference I needed in my post! Ric
  21. John, I can't give references offhand but I looked closely at this a while back. First, as Mal says, foxes are native species and can be released. However, the release must be humane. If you cage trap an urban fox then it should not be released in a rural setting. It will not know how to hunt; nor will it realise that rural foxes are strongly territorial. It won't last long. If you raise a litter of cubs you must give them "controlled release". Let them out for a night, feed them the next day . . . and as far as I see it, wait for 'em all to die. Essentially, release/relocation is legal
  22. I reckon Strauss, Flower, Staker. They've built a team. I've just put £10 on England for the World Cup at 6.2:1 and I don't mean football!
