  1. DB - you may well be right, or should I say correct to avoid confusion, about SBS. Point stands about stack-barrel guns tho! I don't have much experience with smooth-bores, but I always assumed that you fired the more open choke barrel, the first one set to fire, at the closer bird, and the tighter choke at the further one. I know a very rude joke about this, but p'raps not at Xmas!
  2. If it works don't fix it. Problem might come if you hit a close bird with a tight choke shot and end up eating lead!
  3. An "over and under" should really be called an "under and over"! They are always set to fire the bottom barrel first unless the shooter overrides the setting, just as a side by side always fires the left barrel first. The first barrel has less choke for the close bird or clay, the second barrel is choked tighter for the longer range. Hence the expression "a left and a right" leaning to drop a close bird with the left and a bird flying away with the right.
  4. And this kindly caring compassionate government is scrapping meals on wheels for house-bound pensioners. . . Fine post mate. I'd just add be tactful when you offer help. Old folk are very proud and independent.

And yet . . .. This slimey dodgy twat has managed to con rwo English girls into bearing his kids. The mothers deserve no sympathy, but should the kids be forced to grow up without a father? I don't know, but I think the question is worth asking.

I'd love to get this scumbag in my workshop. Clamp his prick in the vice, take the handle out, chuck a gallon of gas on the bench, strike a match and hand him a rusty Stanley blade.

  12. Of course, if you can't manage an armchair you could always have a go at a pouffe . . .
  13. Apparently the ones with castors can be well dodgy. If they get those likkle tiny wheels spinning fast enough, they can take your toes off. The best defence is to shout "OY mum-in-law get across this! Make yersen useful yer daft old bat!"
  14. Dunno. Never tried hunting armchairs. What calibre do you use?
  15. More to the point, your ticket must specify the purpose for which you need the calibre. Does it say "Fox" or just something like "vermin" or "small ground game"? If it does not specify fox you could be in deep s**t for using either on Charley. Most folk on here reckon that HMR is minimum for fox except the odd time if one pops up under the muzzle. Home Office advice to FEOs ia that no rimfire should be granted "for the purpose of shooting fox".
  16. Have you looked at Sporting Shooter's SGC article pinned at the top of this forum? Edited to add, under FAQs

Yup. I'm as handsome as ever both face on and in profile.
  19. Ian - given that the forum has been attacked by some pretty serious hackers and you have kept the flukkers away I don't think any of us has owt to moan about. Boy done good. Ric
  20. I am sorry. I do not understand what you mean. Browning .308 Rick is just being a clever dick. FTB Me? Azif. Psyxologos, you put 3.08 in your OP. If you read that as 3.08 inch calibre it would be an artillery piece! Obvious typo for .308 but I couldn't resist.
  21. I've read that Rottweilers have the strongest mercator muscles of any dog. They are the muscles that power tha bite. In a Rotty they can exert 130 lbs pressure each side. So if a Rotty clamps down and you try to force its jaws open you are trying to move 260lbs - 2 1/2 cwt. May not be "locked" but it feels like it!
  22. Cheers Malt mate...despite what they all they i think your a star ..they're probably right pal.... Red dwarf
  23. It's all very well talking about what someone got years back. Like I said before, with the Cumbria killings so recent Firearms depts are going to be dead leary.
  24. I read it as granting permission to shoot/take vermin by day or by night, and game in season by day. That way all legal options are covered, and so is the farmer's ass if you get naughty and shoot game at night. Ric
  25. nothing to seriouse just a couple of murders a few bank robberys etc say if your got a fire arm offence what do you think the odd's are of getting a licence ? As of now? Zero. Derek Bird killed 11 people with a legally held shotgun.
