Offhand, I'd say you won't get a Centerfire on your first ticket. Some do, most don't. Go for the .22lr and for "purpose" put down rabbits, vermin and opportunistic fox. When you have your interview with your FEO, say that you won't be out after foxes, but if one pops his head out of a hedge 20 yards away you will make him regret it, tho not for long! There's a long-standing controversy on here about whether any rim-fire should be regarded as a serious round for fox. I had to have a bitch pts when she was 8 yrs old. She had peritonitis and her gut just stopped working.I had a great vet and he did all he could but in the end I was keeping the dog alive for my sake not hers. I felt as guilty as hell. All those years of unconditional love rewarded with 20cc of pentathol. You did the right thing for your bitches sake. Keep her alive in your memory. Ric

Indoors rounds. Rats in a barn at 20 feet. You still need FAC and a rimfire rifle to fire them and they'll jam in most guns. Forget 'em. -

Ric, indeed, in terms of time a heavier bullet does not fall faster than a light one, gravity is (relatively) constant. HOWEVER... The trajectory of a heavier bullet will appear more curved (for a given ME) because the heavier bullet will travel less horizontal distance for the same vertical displacement. So timewise, it will be at the same point vertically, but distance from muzzle wise it will drop more quickly. As you say, if the muzzle velocity is the same then the trajectory should be the same (BC and so on taken into account) but heavier bullets tend to move less quickly! Zackly my p

I just now googled MPBR and had a look at a chart for a 22-250 firing a 50gr V-Max @3700fps. Rounding off the figures, zeroing at 250 yds will give POI no more than 2" high or low from under tha muzzle to 300yd. It is 1.6" high at 100yds. I've no experience here, which is why I've kept schtum so far. My impression is that it is bloody difficult. American Customs are dead leary about people bringing guns in. I have a standing invite to the States to do some shooting but my mate there says "Don't even think about bringing your own guns. By the time they clear customs it'll be time to go home. Then you have to get 'em out of bond." Frankly, why bother? You can get a short ticket to shoot, say, a 'yote, a mountain sheep, and a lynx for $100. Hire the gun - a .243 will do the biz. Bring back some trophy skins! Whatever, ATB.

Where society is sick today is that that weird cu*t can film himself doing this and know that there are people who will get their rocks off watching. Hunters hate the twat. I kill animals, for the pot or for pest control. I kill as quick and clean as possible. I'd like to get that twat up agin the wall. I might just decide to miss with the first few rounds. By about 1/2". If this is a plant by "Antis" it backfired. All the real hunters on here hate yon c*nt.

The police were likely using 9mm Glock pistols or Heckler & Koch MP5 SMGs on single shot. Standard practice is to double tap - fire two quick rounds. The legal minimum calibre for Red and Sika deer is .243", which has 4 times the muzzle energy and velocity of the 9mm. If the dog was as big as seems , the police were undergunned. Three shots to the body and a final shot at PBR to the head sounds about right.

From what I can gather the dog was a Belgian Sheepdog. 28-30 inch at the shoulder, long front legs, heavily built. Makes as much sense as a Border Collie to keep as a pet. They are working dogs.
