  1. Just out of interest, why are you killing foxes on a golf course? A green keeper or groundsman's worst enemies are rabbits. Foxes kill rabbits. I only ask.
  2. OK guys. If there's good reason fair do's to yez. I just don't like people who seem to take pride in killing for the sake of it. Like you say Terrierman about foxes. If you're on a market garden farm foxes can be helping the farmer by predating rabbits. Sorry if I, er, so to speak, jumped the gun. Ric
  3. I'll bet they all had spots. . . .
  4. Specially a leopard . . . Ric
  5. A leopard's gonna spend all day hiding up a tree? I can accept that there may be a FEW escaped big moggies around but a breeding population? Naah. Get real guys. Farmer Smith reports losing stock to a big cat. Local journos turn up, offer him MONEY for an interview. He gets on local TV, national press arrive, offer him even more MONEY for an EXCLUSIVE interview. He gets on national TV. Then he is "Local Big Cat Expert" and gets even more MONEY for yapping on with the same old crap. Cynic? Me?
  6. It gets worserer. Daft pillockess!
  7. Weird! Straight pull bolt action in left or right hand versions?
  8. But he gets his name in the papers. Total effin pillock but he looks good to the red top readers.
  9. There's some dodgy birds in most family trees.

    titanic

Remember when that plane went down on the river in New York? The men all made sure that women and kids got priority on the life rafts. OK, not as hairy as the Titanic but several guys who could have got to a raft stayed with the plane while they got the woman and kids to safety even though the plane might sink and take them with it. 11. Yup. If you are using iron sights you put your foresight on your POA. Then you move the rearsight left or right and move the gun around the foresight. The longer the sightline the better. It's hard to describe, but imagine the foresight locked onto the POA. If you have a 20" sight line then moving the rearsight say 1/8th inch will have little effect. If you have a 4" sightline with a pistol you are gonna miss! Always hold the foresight on aim and shift the gun around it.
  12. Ach weil. The voice did go a bit high pitched for a wee whiley. The local lasses didnae seem ta mind . . .
  13. Thats true but the ban on handguns didn't stop that either Too right bro. So far, post Hungerford, long mag shotguns are FAC only, semi auto CF rifles are illegal. Post Dunblane privately owned handguns are illegal. As Mattydski has said, we need to get together. There is an agenda which wants to see all private ownership of guns banned. To coin a phrase, when only the rulers have guns the ruled will be defenceless. Arm the unemployed. At the taxpayer's expense.
  14. Too true. One once chased me along the Gareloch from Helensburgh to Kilcreggan. She only gave up when she heard the ceilidh band playing in the Kilcreggan Hotel. Never pedalled so fast in me life! Ric
  15. Gun crime has increased since the ban on private ownership of handguns. On the other hand, professional crims don't run amok and massacre people at random.
  16. Watch out for the ferals. The sight of an enraged bull haggis disappearing up some guy's kilt, waving its skean dhu and yelling the traditional war cry "Awa wi' yer nuts ye wee Glasgie clipe" is not quickly forgotten. Especially when it emerges covered in blood and waving its battle trophies. Ric

  18. There's a further point about accuracy. It's only comparatively recently that 'scopes have come into nigh on universal use. When I started shooting paper in the '60s glass sights were NOT THE DONE THING OLD CHAP. A longer barrel gave a longer sight-line, so that a given movement of the gun changed the POA by less. The idea grew that the accuracy of the gun improved when it was in fact the accuracy of the shooter. Some real fanatics used a barrel extension tube. That said, UKBR22 recommend ~20"/50cm. I suspect that makes it easier to hold your POA, important when you need to put 50 successi
  19. I'm guessing you meant T-Bolt, if so I agree. A straight pull, decent trigger and very pretty. Only downside (and it's a small one), weaver instead of dovetail rail so the mounts are going to cost a bit more. I got a CZ452 when I bought my HMR and very happy with it but I wish I'd had a look at the Browning at the time. I have an A-Bolt in .243 and love it. You're right of course
