  1. Get some pics up, and gd luck never take a camera out. it was pi**ing down tonight too. it'd make some good videos though. he's a cracker to watch. gives everything
  2. soon as your big bitch is ok to run give me a bell. its humping with em.there's about 11 fields to go at when the stock is all in. be good to have a walk round. this is the place that needs ferrettting
  3. nice job that mate. dogs get a holiday too. any permission near the van ?
  4. yeah . up at 6 so didint want to be up all night gutting rabbits. i'll be out a few more times this week before the moon's back. the pot licker's doing well
  5. just had 3 fields of corn cut so thought i'd nip out with the dog for a quick walk round. 3 runs and 2 big buck rabbits in the bag. from setting off to getting home with 2 rabbits - 59 minutes
  6. have to be careful here or you'll soon outgrow a lamp. a good budget outfit is a laserlite cb2 with a 9amp lithium and charger. get onto cluson engineering they'll sort you a good deal out. I've used a lazerlite for the last 20 years or so and it does the job. 1000m beam
  7. i have a 2yr old lurcher and he gets raw chicken carcasses, lamb ribs, tinned mackerel, raw eggs, tinned tomatoes, any dinner scraps ( veggies etc). I back this up with complete. I try feed according to what he looks like. He drops weight off more in the season so i up his grub. he lives out so his main meal is at night when i put him away and later if lamping. mornings he gets lamb bones and he'll get some tinned fish and eggs a few hours before working him. its about getting it right for your dog. i've been feeding raw in the main for about a year now and he does well on it.
  8. my tip take plenty of nets. if a rabbit does get caught in a net dispatch it in the net and get a new net straight over the same hole. dont waste time getting the rabbit out of the net to re use that net.
  9. he only took the air rifle last night as i wondered whether we'd get a run at all with the fields being small. my lad knows what he's doing and he's safe. he missed 2 as he's rusty with the lamping. hard to judge distance at night . I'll check the other fields out this weekend, 2 look a fair size on the map but i need to know whats in em before i'll lamp em. the horse paddock is clipped that short it looks like a bowling green and the rabbits cant half shift on that sort of ground. once the stock is in there's more to go at. there's some grand ferreting to be had on this land though. all t
  10. priceless. days like that make good memories
  11. some years ago a mate of mine had 2 lurchers that he kept in the house. one day they chewed/ clawed their way through 2 stud walls.. came home from work to find they were 2 rooms away from where he left em. super
  12. AND BLANKED First time out with the lamp on some recently acquired permission. I've shot this a couple of times with the air rifle and taken some good numbers in daylight. 12 was the best session. It holds massive numbers of rabbits unlike any of my others but the catch is the fields are small. we jumped the gate and walked into a horse paddock lit up the first corner and some 10-15 rabbits were sat out. the lad had a shot and missed with the air rifle. i'd already agreed if he missed the shot i'd slip buck but how do you slip on 10 rabbits ? so i held him back. the lad ad another shot an
  13. Blue's a smart looking dog and a lot bigger in the flesh than in the pics
  14. Cracking Pic that. Wish I'd took photos with my kids. All 4 have been out with me at some stage, ferreting, lamping and all have grown up watching and helping me clean and gut the catch. Thought my daughter would follow in my steps as she was the keenest out of the lot. She came out with me regularly from about 4 to 11 then the hormones kicked in . the youngest lad at 19 has been the most consistent and still lamps and shoots with me. He'll be getting a dog in a couple of months ( a beddy whippet x) the same one i started with.
  15. Tomorrow for me. bit of rain coming in, still warm but i'll make one. Lamp charged and the dogs bouncing off the walls and ready for it
  16. Its my 8th bithday and there;s a knock at the door. In comes my uncle, mothers brother with his 2 dogs, a blue beddy whippet dog and a sandy beddy whippet bitch. He used to come round a fair bit and i'd already spent time out ferreting with him and loved his dogs. He was a big blunt sort of bloke, shaved head, and never seen without his denim jacket, jeans and dealer boots. I really looked up to him. out of his jacket he pulls a pup. Happy birthday he says turns round and leaves. That's it i have lurcher at 8. He was black, broken coated and a white chest, the runt of the litter. turns out
  17. this looks more useful to me. they have them in our local farmers merchants at 45 inc vat. I already have the plr400 that this is based on which is real handy but this has a focussed beam and 1200 lumens . should be good. for that money i'll be getting one. red filter included in the price too https://clulite.cluson.co.uk/spotlights/666-plr-500-long-ranger-led-pistol-light.html

  20. you're not wrong there, they forgot telephone lines, internet, gas, allsorts. but i wouldn't change it for anything
  21. got a copy of both in my hand here. someone off here gave em to me. i've seen em and they're yours if you want em you're lucky , someone asked a while ago for em and i couldn't lay my hands on em. if you pm me your address etc i'll stick em in a jiffy bag
  22. I have been for nearly the last 20 years. only downsides are crap internet , lack of services, powercuts etc but its still worth it
  23. yeah i do alright here Giro. there's a benefit to living in the middle of nowhere 20 years ago i lived on the edge of sheffield. different story then i'll tell ya
  24. been lucky enough to get some cracking land thats humping with rabbits. Ive shot it through summer and the landowner's usually on site daytimes so its just been an agreement for me to turn up when i like anyway the nights are pulling in and i'm ready for lamping so i called her to ask if i brought a slip down would she be able to sign it stating i had permission to be there in pursuit of rabbits. its about 12 miles from me and i dont know anyone else in the area so lamps or cars where folk dont expect em may cause a stir. "i'll do better than that " she says "i'll get on the computer and pr
