  1. Driving around industrial lancashire its hard to believe some of the hunting that used to exsist in the area. There were quite a few packs of harriers in the past, the Belmont, the Bolton, the Ashton, the Aspull and hounds kept in whitle-le-woods. You wouldnt be able to have one meet in most of those areas now never mind running a pack 2 days a week. I have read a report of a buck found in Shevington near Wigan that was hunted through Parbold then Wrightington eventually taken at Worden in front of the hall at Leyland. That run would of followed what is now the line of the M6. Any way
  2. Next time I go hunting in ireland i'll bring a bucket full, introduce em, then maybe we can export some mole catchers theres thousands over here!
  3. I kept catching moles by the back end, took me a while to guess the farm staff wer turning em round in the traps to wind me up!
  4. We release about half a dozen white pheasants each year.
  5. I see about half a dozen a year in lancashire that have white wings or plenty of white feathers mixed in. I have a stuffed half white blackbird. There was a brown crow near M61 junction next to bolton wanderers ground in horwich a year or two back. Got to admit Id love a white crow to go with my white blackbird. Got a white stoat and a half white pheasant waiting in the freezer.
  6. Only had monk fish once tasted like sweaty socks, think its got to be cooked spot on to be any good, not cheap tho is it.
  7. Make sure your insured. Dont inform anyone as your traps may disapear, set last thing at night as the light goes and pick up in morning.
  8. Tate modern will pay good money for a creation like that. I like it how you have taken the time to sit em on clean shavings! :notworthy It surgests a certain something...... artistic bent......madness?
  9. Kippers! NOOOO! You dirty b8stards!
  10. in an envolope? The LACS was nearly bankrupt with people sending things to their free post address but the post office cancelled the bill and let them off.
  11. If you can fit a bambi in the envolope ur a better man than me
  12. Hi mate its no good advertising if you dont know how to do bedbugs carpet beetle fleas woodworm cluster flies etc all this and more is what the course teaches you how long before customers can return to the house after you sprayed things like this you probably wont know your taught rodents insects and health and safety this course is called bpca/rsph level 2 I apreciate that mate, iv been brought up with it all so im not clueless and starting from scratch. But things change and you need to keep up to speed. Can I survive just doing the things im more than capable of tho, t
  13. I alway lift the trap a bit after pushing it down just to make sure im not slowing the trap down by wedgeing it in to tight. Also iv always belived in not setting the trap too light as Iv always belived moley can push a fair bit of soil in front of him so I like it to go off smoothly but with a bit of a push. Keep the trigger hooks straight and clean, I carry a small file to clean em up now and again. If I find a trap sprung on one side then I reset, if its fully plugged I swap to a different trap straight away. Moles push soil in front of them and need a cetain set to catch em, sometime
  14. Sounds,..er,..a tad complicated.... sounds like bollocks it isn't, taught by an old skool keeper, with more experience than your age, he knows his shit p.s would shoot any lurcher on site A cock then? Im reading a book called a fenland mole catcher by a chap who is a forth generation mole catcher his family has prob caught more moles than us lot put together, he still reckons than keeping a moles foot in your pocket will keep rhematism at bay Theirs nowt as crank as an old crank.
  15. Just had an arse-spca begging letter through the door, its tempting to put it in the bin but if you send the letter back (along with a pro hunt leaflet) in their pre-paid envolope then they have to pay the postage. If anyone else gets one im sure you can think of something good to slip in instead of a donation

    LACS

Its been on my phone for a while, I feel a need to report anti fieldsports landowners for their cock fighting activities
  17. Its not the doing paperwork or even studying that bothers me, its just paying so much do be 'taught' things by people im proberly more competant than. Last year I was 'given' a mole job by a large pest control company, when I turned up the customer told me that the big company had gassed the runs 4 times and it hadnt worked. The ground was pure moss and totally unsuitable for gass, maybe even dangerous being so close to the house yet the chap who had been to the job before me was weighed down with certificates. I caught the mole that afternoon but what worries me is paying good money I can ill
  18. .......but then a grand buys a nice bit of advertising!!
  19. Yes im thinking about it being a good certificate, it just puts me off when lads with all these certificates ask my advice (sorry if that makes me sound like a big headed nob!) and im thinking its goin to cost me over a grand to get that bit of paper, and if it hasnt given others iv met a lot of useful info then im getting stiffed!!! But the way the world turns these days sooner or later those lads with the right cert's will get contracts i'll miss, just cause they have ticked all the right boxes.
  20. On another thread you mentioned being out poaching so I prob wont invite you on my land if thats ok
  21. I have upto fifty set and manage with just markers. Most of my sites have footpaths so there I just use small dull markers and put them in a few meters away, Iv never needed to make drawings and my memory is terrible. Sometimes I use red white and blue markers, first trap red second white then a blue and so on, you can tell if u miss one then as you get out of sequence. Anyone used a gps marker system, something im looking into.
  22. not in scotland. The pack I hunt with come to scotland twice a year, im sure they will add an extra day or two if you have enough ground. Let me know if you want me to ask.
