    Did they have a good day? I was going to go but at the last minute was invited shooting so didnt make it, might try and go and visit the cvb iover the next few weeks.

    We dont pay and have a waiting list. We only need about 6 beaters though and those who make an effort get a bit of shooting, vermin etc or if a gun dosnt turn up, most of our beaters are wanting a gun in the shoot and come to show how keen they are ( keenest often wears off once they get a gun tho

    Where abouts in the northwest are you pal? I run a small walk/stand shoot and do a bit of agricultural pest control and your welcome to have a mooch round and see what we do. Pm me when ever you want.

    Electric fencing wire isnt expensive really, just make you own posts with insulators made from pieces of old hose pipe. Im going to try fencing all our pheasant woods and the rushy fields that surround them next year.

    Dont think they are worth much especially the normal sized rabbit ones. If you do work out what the small ones are worth tho id be interested in taking them off your hands........

    Its strange how close you can get to some prey animals when they know you mean them no harm. When a predator isnt hunting rabbits will often allow it to come quite close, iv seen it on a few occasions. Out with the hounds this morning I saw 100 ducks walking off up a field away from the pond, I was up a hill so had a grand stand view, they were making quite a noise so I stood watching until I noticed a fox walking up the field in front of them. They were following it over the field, though I guess they were trying to keep it in view rather than trying to catch it up.

    Mate just stick it in a tunnel, push a stick in the ground at both ends to stop non targets and keep the safty off. A trap weathers best when its set in place! No need to mess around with it.

    There was a couple of eagles seen near us over in lancashire, think they were 'step eagles' cant remember to be honest, anyway they had escaped from somewhere and where never recovered as far as I know, last reported about 2 month ago.

    Quite sure these are wild quail mate, the local twitchers have been flocking to see the ones out on the lancs plain. They are quite small, smaller than the domestic jap ones.

    Anybody seen any in their area? I thought the were a migrant and only turned up in a few places down south and in the east but this year iv seen some on the edge of the west pennies and some out on the lancashire plain.

    I really want to put together a hunting package but the various prices worry me, i want to know what it will cost before i pull the trigger not after the quarry has been measured. and 1000euro to shoot a caper? not for me i think, put me a package together with a full price in advance and i'll look again.

    Cheers for that, our main pen is a fir wood and is only about a 5th of the wood so im not worried about the flora. In the sporting gun recently it surgested 1000 per hectare which I thought was much lower densities than ours. Im just worried about disease as we will be putting more eggs in one basket!

    Due to wild fires and time constraints placed on some of ours guns due to work commitments this year we are going to be 2 pens down on last year so are hoping to release more birds from one large pen. What is the maximum density of birds you should stock in a pen. We have increased the pen size and are adding more drinkers and feeders. I'll have to ask our farmer how big our pen is as id only be guessing hectare wise.

    Bit wierd some of the other stuff on there, never understand why people feel the need to show close ups of dead game covered in blood, there is even a video called 'holding a beating rabbits heart in my hand'

    I split up with the mrs a few months ago and though I never came anywhere close to that I can see how someone without a really close family and friends who spends all their time out alone with alot of time to dwell on it could. Add to that worries about job security half a bottle of whiskey and easy access to guns and its no wonder keepers farmers and country people figure high up in the suicide stats.

    I hate snaring foxes and only use it as a last resort but used to do a lot. I make a nuber of runs under fences, through dry stone walls or places branches in a wall through woods with small paths and runs through them. I have a post fixed at each run with a string on each then I simply tie a bait on each string, in the shooting season I use any hard shot birds or birds that I have cut the breasts off. Just check the baits wenever you have time, no need for early starts like if you have loads of snares set. If a bait starts going simply set the ready placed snare in its teeler.

    Same as and can not understand the desire to kill large numbers off quarry that cannot be eaten or sold with the exception of rats mink and grey squirrels. Same again why kill without reason the only reasons in my opinion are for the pot ,vermin/pest control or money You missed sport off your list, to me sport is the exercising of my natural urge to hunt. I often hunt a quarry that I dont want to sell or eat or is a pest, I hunt it cos I want to but the hunting is more important than killing.

    Im after a load of big blue barrels with screw tops and security fence panels, I thought it would be easy to find em but struggling a bit. Im in lancashire and will prob want at least 20 barrels and 8 fences panels, anyone got any ideas for sourcing some?
