    MOORLAND FIRES

I didnt mean to slag off firefighters in general they are heroes but they had 17 engines at the moor. Iv worked on one of the moors that are burning and its just frustrating when 20 firemen just stand and watch as fire sweeps through your best heather. Their policy is let it burn out if its no risk to property but they dont seen to care if someones livlihood goes up in smoke.

Talking to a mate who was up on healey nab which over looks the burning moors. Apparently he saw 3 different lots of people who were sat up there watching the fires who had lit camp fires and bbqs while watching square miles of moor burn. I give up!

Anglezarke moor is gone, there will never be grouse shooting on what was once a great moor ever again. It gets burned often but usually only one side goes at a time giving the grouse somewhere to go. This time its all gone. One of the big plantations is also well burned. Thought I also saw Darwen on fire but not sure. The fire brigade are useless. To be fair with the wind it would of been difficult but they say they are only there to protect houses, which are safe anyway! Its just a day out for them to play with their new gear. The news says its not suspisious, bollcocks! its nob he

  14. How often do you get that number, what's your average per week ?? To be fair that was a good do, I couldnt seem to keep them out of my traps that day, they were going off as I was setting them. I tend to only do one big farm a week and have most of them done now so I can concentrate on domestics as spring comes. Id say between 50 and 100 a week when doing the farms but I do have alot of moorland edge farms.
  15. Iv just had 53 moles in one day setting and a couple of hours picking up, £10 a mole my farmers would laugh their heads off! Each to their own, charge what you can get away with.
  16. if you hav someone in your life you love tell them every day cos u never know when they will be gone for good.

  21. I worked on a chicken farm when I was young, we used to go in the big sheds and lift up boards we had left in the corners, when a mouse bolted the hens would proper course it round, if they caught it they would rip it to shreds and eat it. These wer only normal laying warrens.
