It's the job of the police and security forces to keep the peace and prevent terrorism, hence the state funding security, as they would with any other event. The funeral costs are being privately funded. If there is a minutes silence or a collection or anything for a cause/person I don't feel worthy I have more self respect than to crash it and make a twat of myself. Carbon-14 dating has nothing to do with millions of years. The potassium argon dating method is the popular one used for millions of years. Regards evolution, the 'fact' is the majority of the scientific community follow it therefore it is THE theory to explain life on Earth. Now when I say the scientific community I'm talking about research fellows, people with a reasonable level of intelligence and a natural curiosity and tendency to question everything they are told. The current labour lot want to look at 'alternatives', which lets face it means anything you can strap a warhead to that's cheaper. It's a dangerous game to play. There are a lot of options but really we can't budge from what we have so any talk of 'other options' to me is just a sly way of tricking people into effectively getting rid. In other words they'd talk and commit to studies of effectiveness, sit down and then decide to carry on as normal, because their ain't no effective alternative! They are mining it, did you it read that post that Paulus cross posted from Facebook? There is 300 years worth of the purest anthracite in the ground in my little area of Wales alone, and that's nothing compared to the S Wales valleys.. We were never a major coal producing region though, and our industry was gone long before Thatcher was even born. There are numerous theories as to why they closed the mines.. Spite, revenge, saving the coal until we run out of oil and are technologically advanced enough to use it to produce clean energy, but my personal view is that they were closed as a metho

Brookie, just a few points; London is still the financial capital of the world. The UK was giving billions in foreign aid before Cammeron and will continue to when he's gone. She's not getting a state funeral and explicitly didn't want one. Thatcher wanted the pits closed, why? One thing I've never understood about all this, if there's so much coal why isn't someone mining it now?
