  1. Oh, so nothing serious then......... Hells bells, life can't keep you down can it Simo! All the best and get well soon!
  2. I hear that banded about by buzzard loving anti game shooters all the time. Any proof of that or just what your mate who did a bit of keepering on the big estate told you? Why on earth would a commercial game shoot effectively burn their profits by dumping saleable game produce? When with the demand for game and being a relatively large scale and regular producer of game they could sell to a dealer? Simply...... prove it....
  3. Is that really true though? Would it not be more accurate to say that it's less prone to richochets? Not really no, the 17 ricochets just as much as 22. But others with more experience can comment better on that. You can hear the slug zipping off with that characteristic long "piiiioooooowwwwwwwww". And at just about any distance the 17 is carry more kinetic energy than a 22 so it's a little concerning! If the bullet had indeed fragmented I wouldn't expect the long ricochet sound you get. Ground type has a bearing on the risk of ricochet as it does with any projectile. To say a bla
  4. that's what iam saying, start of the season the owner of the shoot+ keeper, would work out how many birds there putting out or poults to rear . What ever the number 3000 - 6000 birds they got to know they will loose quite few to predators etc . And some shoots, guns are paying £ 8-10 grand full gun a season , last time was beating at few shoots most had 8-10 guns , so I reckon they could cover the cost of having extra birds they may need , that will be taken from predators , or as above killed on roads etc. Now to me lab , that's how a proper shoot should be run, if they trying to
  5. I agree, took my 455 out on tuesday eveing for a quick mooch to get a brace I had promised a mate. Chinned two at what felt SILLY FAR, but realistically was comfortable hmr range of around 120m. It's a fun little round for daytime rabbiting and vermin.
  6. they can and do ricochet. i can say that will experience. not just theory Anybody that has shot a 17 can do mate. As for a blade of grass turning the 17gn bullet to dust....... I like the 17hmr, I've only had one a couple weeks and it really suits me. Compared to the 22s I've used before for what I want it's head and shoulders superior. But it's a fact they're no safer! "No ricochets" is a really dangerous bit of propaganda to push to the public!
  7. I'm sorry, I got this far and realised the author hasn't a clue what he's talking about ....where ricochets are concerned this is a great round. If the bullet from the .17HMR so much as hit’s a blade of grass while on the way to a target it will expand and basically turn to dust in mid air. The 17 ricochets, don't you dissbelieve it! Quite frankly that's a dangerous bit of information to push.
  8. They can try and lynch him as much as they want. If he's really got what it takes to take UKIP all the way, going toe to toe with the Lib Dems is the first major battle. Having one hand tied is to be expected. Nigel is a cool customer, intelligent and with a solid basis for his political arguments. He's not going to walk into this expecting a fair fight. UKIP isn't just a nationalist protest party anymore, they have sound politics which are very appealing to the British working classes and Middle classes alike. If the man keeps talking the household brand of familiar common sense politics
  9. Yeah, that's exactly why I went for the 455 for the TH stock. I just bolted on a Hawke Varmint SF but I'll be looking to upgrade when/if I'm shooting much beyond 100m. Also might possibly buy a 16" .22 barrel for it as the 455 has interchangeable barrels but I'll probably just end up buying a second hand 452 and save buggering about.
  10. What about isolating them, banning them from house sports events, teams and school skiing trips etc, lunch time and after school detentions where they have to be picked up by their parents inconveniencing their parents. If all else fails, expel them and put their parents through the aggro of finding another school. If they repeatedly get expelled the parents clearly aren't fit to be parents and social workers need to get involved. You're possibly better placed to comment on this than me? Do you think mainstream teachers could be tougher? Do they let small discipline incidents slip for an e
  11. I've just bought the 455 varmint 20" and it's very accurate. Sub MoA in wind at 100m. I know each rifle differs but mine love Hornady V-max and I understand many CZs do as well. Remington wasn't too bad but the Winchesters were shite.
  12. Right or wrong it was unnecessary. Kids can be disciplined at schools without having to resort to cello-tape. Just chuck the lot of them in after school detention for a week and see how keen they are to bugger about after their parents have bollocked the life out of them for having to pick them up from school late every night. Discipline mechanisms are in place already............. teachers are just too soft to actually enforce them with zero tolerance.
  13. Nice to see pics of other cultures. What's she doing over there shroom? I hope she's had words with them about 2012!
  14. Jai, if she ever wants to sell #1 or #2 I may well be interested mate. I understand if she wants to keep them for her portfolio but give me a shout if not. Cheers
  15. You don't need to be old enough to have lived through the Cold War to talk about it, it's never held Born back I've really upset you haven't I.
  16. The Falklands and Gibraltar are completely different to what's going on here. He's walking a very fine line. I'm sure he'd love nothing more than to march right into Kiev and carry out a few executions. To completely invade Ukraine or to hit resistance in the Crimea with heavy casualties would not be acceptable and he knows that, he's testing the water and at the same time securing strategically important military assets. Taking advantage of a time when the core of NATO has f**k all fight in it and being clever with his moves to not initiate actual conflict or full invasion. Now ICBMs. Is
  17. Why not! LOL. "The Cold War is over" my arse!
  18. She is bloody good. That collie is excellent!
  19. So, no lamping, no snares, no dogs and currently no centerfire................... the farmer likes to challenge his foxers eh? Fieldcraft will make all the difference by the sounds of it, but I think the farmer is being a little ambitious expecting the foxes 'cleared' with such heavy restrictions.
  20. Troops I meant troops I know, but the thought of 80k Paras is a pleasant one.
  21. What's the target Pete. We're not after your white whale again? That thread is THL legend...........
  22. I agree, Iraq and Libya were'nt exactly good examples to lead by. Still, does that mean you're happy to live in a world where suddenly that is acceptable? Where does it end? Like I said, NATO and the US held such military superiority for years that it has kept relative stability in two main regions. Now that superiority is lost stability is with it. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe everybody with a sovereign dispute will have a nice chat and sort it out over the phone.......... f**k knows
