Max, how many of these hare shoots do you personally know of mate to make that sort of claim? You haven't a clue. Come down to Lincs, drop ya anti shooting prejudices and try engaging in conversation with some of the sportsmen down here. The ones I know of are mostly free to the guns, invitation usually between DIY syndicates, beaters, farmers etc. It's pest control and 1000 hares may be taken over 4 saturdays EVERY YEAR! You say a 1000 hares EVERY YEAR! How many years do you personally know this to be the case? I can mind you asking a guy on here for proof of pheasants being dumped. Can you

If the pilot is in on it then there is no need for a hijack really is there. He just makes up some cock and bull story and lands where ever the f**k he wants. The passengers and crew are none the wiser untill at their destination a load of south china sea pirates jump on with Uzis.

I've seen you mate, they probably think yours is a pet No mate, ya see, I don't carry this huge chip on my shoulder and treat folks with the "holier than thou" biggoted mentality of some working class hero preventing me from actually getting to know them and what they really think of me. I can see how that concept is unfamiliar to you....

try it mate, it's an eye opener I do regularly, lol. Maybe it's a chap on the other end of the lead they have a problem with?

I think we're on the same page here. There's 1 crack that originates when the bullet breaks the sound barrier but obviously you don't here it until the sound reaches you which is what the illustration is showing. No, the crack is continuously being created for as long as the bullet in supersonic as shown by the animation. In that animation the projectile is traveling with a constant velocity greater than the speed of sound, it doesn't break the sound barrier at any point, it's velocity is constant. So by your reasoning there should be no sonic crack? The crack you hear is from the

Look, here is a very simple animation that illustrates the supersonic crack you hear from projectiles traveling with velocities greater than the local speed of sound. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_boom You see that point where the waves overlap?...... it travels out like a cone......... that's the 'crack'. It's a shockwave caused by a constructive build up of sound waves from the projectile.
-
You're wrong. The superposition of sound waves from the bullet is continuous for as long as the bullet is supersonic. You will only hear one crack but the phenomenon itself is continuous throughout the bullets supersonic trajectory. Ian I don't claim to be an expert. I knew it only happened once and roughly why but I readily admit I had to google the exact mechanics as I'm no physicist. However, if you read the article I linked above, then it states the crack is singular because once the object breaks the sound barrier, it out accelerates the sound so you no longer get the build up

For as long as the bullet is super sonic there is the sonic crack.

Not hard to understand his thinking mate. The beautiful English Partridge and the elogant Brown Hare are true icons of the countryside where I'm from. Despite standing up for peoples right to shoot hares and the right to have hare shoots, it personally not my thing to kill one. I very much enjoy bagging an Englishman, but it's not without a tad of remorse for such a beautiful native game bird. For me they're two real symbols of the British countryside.

Hare drives are usually in February GTE mate. Having them in September is new to me? A few of the more populated estates will shoot every Saturday of Feb often ending with a roost shoot for those that have the energy. I've heard of them selling the hares for charity and simply inviting all the beaters, farmers and mates etc that enjoy the hare shoots. March is traditionally late but it's not like there are leverets kicking about yet and maybe the shoot has their justifications for shooting a couple of weeks later than traditionally so? Like I said, there are hunts still killing foxes but typic

Call it a sixth sense if you will but I just knew you'd say that! LOL LOL. It's not a 410 I need but guided missiles! I managed 10 pigeon and a squirrel on saturday roost shooting for just over 30 shots so I'm not completely useless! LOL

I still haven't got the BM and having sold my CZ I have to cry reading all these posts! Off to cry into my pint now! Hope you are all good mate. The man should come with a warning...... I now NEED a 25-06 in my life. LOL. Dan and his guns have a nastily expensive effect on people.

LOL "united we stand!" LOL If only we countrymen were all miners, we'd show the fecking antis! Of course, there's no dog lads still out running hares or hunts finishing up their season? LOL LOL.

Maybe, maybe not. Here's a real world example I have remembered; There was a property on the market around the corner from me a little while back, a 2 bed modern semi detetched for £85k. Others on that Close were around 90-100 but they were absolutely immaculate and to a high standard. The property was in good nick and needed nothing doing to it. The couple were pretty desperate to sell, maybe get the property for 80k..... monthly mortgage repayments at £160-£200 and rent it out at £350-£400 a month. The monthly profit is saved for maintanence untill say 5k is saved and at that point exces

I'm not smart, I just think too much. It all depends on finding the right property, something between 40-70k and the right mortgage deal. Interest only would be the way to go to keep repayments low. Maybe it's easier in the East Mids where every bugger is poor and house prices along with salaries ain't nothing to shout about. You'd have to do the work yourself as you'd not have money for tradesmen and the property would be BASIC, lol. It'd be a dirt cheap rental which should see a small monthly return which would be left untouched to grow as a 'what if' fund. What if you can't find tennants...
-
That's great for your lad, but like I said, I know lads right now making pensions and/or getting short term returns through property with a 20k budget. One lad is looking to sell now with an estimated 30k profit and another is renting through an interest only mortgage, he'll see monthly returns on his investment and then in 30 years when he retires a lump sum, factors of his investment greater, through the properties sale. It's doable if you have the savvy.
-
Christ you lot are making me wince! I'm reading this thread while crossing my legs tighter and tighter....
-
You'd have to do the math, but always bear in mind that roughly for every pound your house is worth you'll pay back at least another pound in interest! Clearing capital early in your mortgage term will save you a lot in interest!
-
You clearly have f**k all experience in property then KD? I know people right now setting up tidy pensions in property on less than 20k.

Help For Pine Marten Survey!
Born Hunter replied to jodieh's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
I read/heard somewhere that the Pine Martin was actually believed to be beneficial to the red squirrel conservation effort as they found greys easier to prey on than reds. I think they were a little more fleet through the canopy than the greys. Might be bollocks, just recalled it.... This is so yes, but, The lakes and Dumfries & Galloway are strongholds for the red's and not so many greys around. What happens when all the easy prey has gone ? Yeah maybe, all I'm saying is the Red and Martin evolved in the same ecosystem to exist in a mutually beneficial and sustaina -
What would I do........... Spend ten and knock ten off the mortgage. What do I think others should do........... Buy a cheap rental property at 70-% LTV interest only repayments and milk a couple hundred off of it each month. Then in 20+ years flog it for about double what you bought it for and enjoy the money. If you don't at the very least get double your original 20k investment something has gone very wrong.
