We built a wall to keep that sort of barbarity out of our civilised society.

Handshakes, can't stand it when some pathetic excuse holds his hand out like he's expecting you to bloody kiss it, equally find it irritating when someone seems to think it necessary to try to break bones in some thuggish show of manlyness. Firm, short and a definite shake with good eye contact and don't be afraid to initiate it. I was asked to take part of the interviews for this years industry student at work and one of the deciding factors in who we took for me came down to the handshake as daft as that sounds, the lad showed he had a bit about him, not someone we would have to carry about

Terribly ungentlemanly of course, but it was just begging to be pointed out.

Thank f**k I have no wish to go there lol No place for a liberal like you mate. I thought it was great, no chance I'd want to live there but very pleasing to know such a place exists, lol.

And I have absolutely no doubt that if anyone tried to damage one of their state or national flags, they would be met with the sharp end of an AR-15 or Colt 1911. It'd be considered an act or war to those boys.

I did a little test while I was over there in the back of a taxi while being driven to Dallas airport, I'd shut my eyes and open them and see how long it took me to see a flag... I can't remember even having to look out the other side of the vehicle, there would always be at least one stars and stripes or a lone star flag in sight! Those southerners are beyond patriotic! They fly flags the size of lorries from the tops of buildings! All manor of flag etiquette etc.

Well, nice to see it's not completely lost in todays world. I think the art of being a gent is more than just good manners though, but they are a fair chunk of it. Just looking back to some of the men in the war/post war period and I just think "now there's a real gent, he oozes class". And women, I'm not talking about subserviant women of yesteryear that were supposed to look pretty and ladylike etc but confident women that know how to behave in the broad spectrum of social environments and allow their man to treat them like a lady, now that's sexy! Nothing to do with inequality o

I still don't really understand why you have to re-apply every 5 years anyway. Once you've been granted why not just allow it for life?

Dunno about Welsh but that's definitely Welsh-English. LOL

Officially we don't have one GTE. Unofficially many, like myself, consider Jerusalam to be.

I believe that would depend on whether or not that that is how your lady likes to be spoken to? Acting gentlemanly isn't all sophistication, manners and etiquette, it's making those around you feel comfortable with their percieived social anxieties or faux pas and if necessary taking the embarassment for them.... Well, so I understand anyway.

I think to be the perfect Gentleman or Lady is a difficult thing, especially today when not everybody appreciates the traditional behaviour and etiquette attached. It's certainly not a function of wealth or social position though I do perhaps believe people of a higher social background view it with greater importance and that is perhaps why people that associate themselves with the working class more have come to frown on it and resent it. It's surely all about social behaviour and etiquette, never unintentionally making someone feel uncomfortable by treating them as lower than yourself o

A Bullet Proof Vest Could Stop An Arrow Couldn't It ?
Born Hunter replied to ovinovin7's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
So in answer, it depends entirly on what BP vest you're wearing... Simple Kevlar police issue stuff you may well end up skewered. But if you rock up into battle against Robin Hood wearing a Challenger II battle tank you're safe as houses. -
Has the great British institution of women aspiring to be a Lady and men aspiring to be a Gentleman died out? Some magazine has published what the modern day Gentleman is and it provoked my thoughts... 50-100 years ago I'm led to believe that to be described and gentlemanly or a ladylike was the ultimate compliment. These days it almost seems like we have lost that. So, what is it to be a Lady or a Gentleman in today's Britain and is it worth pursuing anymore or just an outdated concept?

If I Didn't Have Bad Luck If Have None At All !!!

We all go through patches like that. Ride it out. -
Deker, simple fact is that people's opinions are often split over the 22/17 and that can be with exactly the same jobs in mind. Lamping, daytime sniping, a truck rifle whatever, there's no such thing as "the right tool for the job", only individual's subjective opinions on what their preferred tool is, and that can differ for any number of perfectly valid reasons

There's another sensitive obstacle that may arise that I'd be more concerned of catching with the trimmers!

I know feck all about it but is it any worse than fox hunting for sport? If they get a crack out of it and aren't threatening any populations or natural balances then I can't see how I can oppose it.
