  1. We are depenent on European and Russian gas both direct and by proxy, if Russia turn the taps off on Europe we'd be fecked in no time, thats not looking at how we are even more dependent on Russian coal. That's not quite the same as being dependant on Russian Gas though is it. It's not like Russia can just switch off our gas without utterly f***ing themselves by switching off the whole of Europes. You said yourself that economically the EU has power to make Russia bend........... so to punish the UK you suggest the Russians are going to piss off the whole of the EU? As for coal
  2. Scot, NATO worked when it was needed. I haven't said the UK could beat Russia, that's a bit ridiculous. I said we would utterly f**k Argentina, which we would and that what we have right now is very capable of dealing with intrusive Russian destroyers and bombers, which they are. That's all mate. If the Argies grow a pair of balls any time soon. If they done what they did in the 80s the Falklands would be there's. We wouldn't be able to take it back. How would it? What they did in the 80's they could not do now, give the MOD some credit ffs. What we had on the Islands in the 8
  3. I might be a bit optimistic in my patriotism but I'm not completely deluded, lol, the UK alone isn't a match for Russia and these days it would take something quite bold and incredible I believe to get any sort of united commitment from NATO. I'm not a mental war monger either, I just believe that if a powerful aggressor genuinely believes that you won't hesitate to stand your ground in spite of poor odds, all you need is the ability to inflict enough damage and they'll write the prospect of aggression off as uneconomical. We have the tools to do that, quite possibly not the resolve
  4. Oh is this just a uk thing like ? Well, Sandy spoke about 'us', the EU and the US as three sparate entities so I assumed by 'us' he was referring to the UK? And if we want to talk about using energy as a weapon, lets see how the yanks play it as they have recently found it in their arsenal too. Something which they are yet to exploit offensively.

  6. Turn the taps off on who's energy supplies? We aren't dependant on Russia for energy, it's one of the sensible things Blair did. The Europeans jumped into bed with them, not the UK.
  7. You can have all the bravery you want, but that wont help you a shite when faced with RAF Typhoons armed with sidewinders and AMRAAMs. LOL The RAF and RN have technologically come on lightyears compared to the Argies. We were much more closely matched in the 80s.
  8. The Argies are constantly rattling on about the Falklands. f**k em! They're in an absolute shit state and would have their entire Navy and Airforce wrecked at the bottom of the southern Atlantic if they wanted to have another go.
  9. Keeping tabs on the Russian Destroyer.
  10. I thought the entire Marine corps did it? Or at least 3Cdo... Being the speacialty of the Artic Warfare Cadre. Surely that's 8k men? For that matter I know for a fact my mate in the RAF Regt has done it.
  11. We've got a much nastier one keeping tabs on it.
  12. Big G, this is nothing new, the Russians have been doing exactly this for decades. We're doing the same with 4 Typhoons being sent out to give air superiority on the Russian/NATO border.
  13. They've done it something like 30 times in the last 10 years! Just typical cold war poking and prodding. Two Russian long range bombers to boot! They remain in international air space. Also HMS Dragon is currently shadowing a Russian destroyer off the UK coast.
  14. Think outside the box, JB........ try firmly grasping the balls and shaking them, that'll put you in full authority of any situation! LOL. .....just be gentlemanly about it.
  15. Says old man BH. When I was a kid, blackjacks and fruit salads were 8 for a penny. Downward spiral from 25
  16. Yes but thats whats great about it.......you can get so much said to someone without even opening your mouth...especially if you are in company... The classic example has to be the first time meeting with the daughters new boyfriend........that handshake where you just hold on that extra second while giving him the half grin and a wink.....both of you know whats being said but the daughters none the wiser ....................as you can probably tell i go a lot on body language Yeah, I imagine a fair few hours thought has gone through prospective son in laws heads of how to play
  17. I think I agree with you on globalisation, but sovereignty should not come at that expense imo. Deep down I think some form of EU has potential but not in it's current flavour. Do we have a choice though? If the other major players aren't willing to compromise it's suffer on or f**k off?
  18. Are Freddo's 25p now? When I was a kid they were 10p!
  19. If we're going to bring the military into this, last I read UKIPs stance was to increase our military, particularly Army personel and Naval assets.
  20. Sandy, you raise the same points I have raised with myself. I don't know the answers and I suspect that Brexit (as it is being termed) quite possibly will have a negative effect on business and consequently the economy. I'm no economist so not able to argue on that. However, immigration is a big issue to many for a good reason, the Britain we love is deteriorating largely through immigration. We want democracy and we want total sovereignty, if initially that means we have to sort our shit out and suffer a bit of pain while doing it then so be it. I also happen to like the libertarian philosoph
  21. Seven years ago I bought a Beretta AL391 second hand for £300. What a bargain and utterly robust and reliable. It's really just a vermin gun these days and I imagine it'll last for another couple of decades.
  22. No i couldnt imagine refusing a handshake no matter who it was.....i even shook a black mans hand once .............in all honesty ive shaken the hand of people ive detested on occasion simply through not being able to refuse a hand shake .....im of the opinion theres a lot more in a handshake than merely greeting someone you can get just as much venom across as you can warmth if you get the vibe right. Editted to add..........shaking hands with a woman, now thats a puzzler.......firm and you might get an " ouch "......soft and you might get a " you poof " . I've shook hands with p
  23. To be fair, I can't really imagine ever shaking a strangers hand. Implicit in the hand shake is the introduction, hence not a stranger. If someone just stopped me in the street for the time or directions and wanted to shake my hand there's no bloody way that'd be happening. Hand shaking is for family, friends, aquiantences and associates, people you know or are being introduced to.
