  1. That's the most vile creature I've ever laid eyes on! If I found that in a FENN, I'd bury the trap with it!
  2. Lets face it, a bit of paper with Farmer Giles' scrawling on ain't in anyway binding or proof of permission. So, if he really wanted to f**k you over, he could just deny ever signing it. Just crack on, make an effort to get to know your landowners, drop by and see them regular, they'll appreciate it and make them far less likely to be inclined to stab you in the back..... This sort of stuff used to be standard procedure, what's with all the H&S risk assesments and solicitors these days? I find the best way to completely alienate anybody is asking for their signature!
  3. The sound from the muzzle blast will arrive after the sonic crack, so probably not. Assuming the distance from the passing bullet to the rabbit is significantly shorter than the distance from the gun to the rabbit. In the rare circumstance of both sounds arriving at the rabbit simultaneously then I can believe that it would indeed make it difficult to discriminate the muzzle blast.
  4. I dare say the MOD Police have that under wraps in UK ports and Fleet Protection Group keep an eye on things everywhere else. They're not gonna let some poxy rag head in a skiff get near the largest and most advanced Naval asset in Europe and quite possibly NATO. The biggest threat to a carrier since the Falklands has always been anti ship missiles. The Russians and Chinese have ones powerful enough to sink a carrier with a single hit. Fortunately we also have six of the worlds best Air Defence Destroyers. . I chased after the royal yacht in me rib years ago. A fooking bigger rib sudde

  6. Maybe, I couldn't say. But the technicians, engineers, scientists and project managers almost certainly won't have been cheap, foreign or second rate. . Nither are the welders bud. Go to barrow or lairds Tbh I'd have been suprised if they were but then steal fabrication isn't exactly top secret stuff so those jobs may have allowed non Brits to work on them. All the technical stuff would only allow Brits though.

  8. Without doubt I'm going down to see these new carriers. Maybe later this year but definitely when they become operational. Bigger than the Titanic and packing a hell of a punch!
  9. I used to use the same scope on a springer air rifle and I very rarely had to rezero. I like to check it on the hmr as I require a much higher degree of precision than I did on the springer but it seems to hold zero well. Recoil is f**k all so you'd expect that really. I've had one case so far where it was shooting 3 inch out at 100 yards but I put it down to a bad knock in the cabinet or something. For the money I like the Varmint scopes but there is certainly better glass out there if you are willing to shell out for it.
  10. Funny enough I have a Varmint SF 2.5-10x44 on my CZ455. It's just what I had and saved me buying a new one, but I might upgrade to better quality glass in time. I can group 1/2 inch at 100 yards with it so can't complain. I'd definately favour the 4-16 for shots aproaching 200 yards. Decent budget scope imo.

  12. LOL. A yank Cruiser shot down an Iranian commercial airliner in the 80s. That left a pretty big mess.......
  13. What they like temperament wise? I'd imagine they're fairly chilled out (independant and not neurotic) but a serious animal in their work? Less of a headache than a spaniel? General opinion seems to be they are custom made keepers dogs for hill country, but how do they fair in lowlands? How would they do on your average English shoot with lots of hedgerows, thorns and large arable fields? Something that is traditionaly spaniel territory.....
  14. Markha, you do not need written permission, just "lawful authority". And you do not need to inform the Police if the land has already been passed. It's really quite simple, if the landowner okays you to shoot on his land and the land has already been okayed by the Police for that caliber for a previous FAC holder, you are fine to shoot it on a Closed cert.
  15. The carriers themselves have fully automated Phalanx CIWS firing 3000 20mm rounds per minute which are for defence from close areal threats, missile or aircraft. Before it becomes operational it'll have the capacity to carry 40 aircraft, including it's fixed wing multirole Joint Strike Fighters. It'll also carry Merlin helis for sub warfare and general recon and Chinooks & Apaches to support it's compliment of 250 RMs. Top that off with the rest of the carrier battle group, which will include a Type-45 destroyer and Type-23/26 Frigate and quite possible an Astute class sub and I think they
  16. 6 years...... I can wait, lol. I just hope the Joint Strike Fighter is all it's cracked up to be..... Plenty of fitting out, sea trials, snagging, crew training, battle group training, hele training etc etc to do before then. f**k the JSF, let me rip at em with one of those CIWS guns firing 3000 20mm rounds per minute!
  17. As a sailor or marine, how much pride will ships like that and the new Destroyers give you? The military in its entireity once again have a mobile command platform to launch operations anywhere on the globe with kit that can only be matched by other world leading militaries. Yeah there are going to be sceptics that simply see these assets as another escuse to send our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines to war or the whole project as a waste of money but for me it's the backbone of our countries history and security. If nothing else the British end product is fecking awesome! LOL.
  18. So I'm sick of talking about shooting hares, thought I'd change the subject to shooting Argies. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/industry/defence/10723164/Britains-largest-warship-nears-completion.html 100 days from today the first of our two new Queen Elizabeth class carriers will be named in an official ceremony and kitted out for sea trials to enter full service in 2020. Have a flick through the CG images of her on the link. Fecking amazing piece of British engineering and the colossal scale of this world class project leaves me quite proud to be British quite fr
  19. I don't think Cameron has shafted anyone with this personally. He needs the support of the LibDems as they are part of the Government, without their support nothing can be achieved. How can he possibly give us what we want when Lab and LibDems are always against it? That's just our parliamentary system and the realities of a coalition government surely? They tried to discuss an amendment but the LibDems weren't willing to play ball so the Government can't get anything through the Commons right? He might be the PM but he doesn't have absolute control to do whatever he wants.
  20. Aye, but were they ethnic Russian Ukranians? If they were then Vlad might be planning another annexation! LOL
  21. Every one of those yellow b*****ds wants setting fire to!
  22. That's a shame, always brings a smile to my face when I see you have commented on a thread I have had a bit of debate on....... I know I'm in for a bit of excitement with you!
